Hello all, ok I did all of my searching, I know what do to with the spray. I have a few questions, is there a particular spray to buy at the auto parts store someone can recommend? Also, I understand you turn the heat UP, the AC OFF and fan on HIGH, however, how long do you let it run for? Should I let it run with the windows up or down? Engine on I assume. After this, I shut the AC off 5 minutes prior to storing the car (I drive it maybe 10 miles a week, one day).

Your dealership should have an AC refresh spray, that's where I got mine. Follow the instructions on the can and you won't go wrong. but if I remember correctly, you must turn the AC on and spray the stuff into the vent under they plastic guard just under the hood at the leading edge of the windshield.

The sprays work pretty well, but it is incumbent upon you to not let it get that way in the first place. Every time you use your AC it accumulates moisture on the condenser. You must dry that moisture off or it will form mildew. To dry it off, just push the AC button and the AC will turn off, but the fan will stay on. Let it blow for about 3 or 4 minutes (I do this about a mile or so from home). That will continue to blow air over the condenser and dry it to preclude any mold from forming.

You should start by removing the fan blower in the front compartment. You will get direct access to the all critical smelly parts....

You should also check the drain hose that is your primary culprit on why this happened in the first place.

anybody have any write up's about this? i have the same problem, except it happens every once in awile, and i notice that it only happens sometimes after i wash my car.

I had the same problem with my '92 last year. I bought 2 cans of that fresh-air stuff from NAPA and sprayed into into the outside center vent as directed and into all of the vents inside the car. It worked very well and it still smells OK a year later. I didn't have to dismantle anything except to take off the plastic cowl which covers the outside vent.

There's really no need to dis-assemble yet. First try the spray and see if that doesn't solve your problem. Then report back.

And remember to give the AC a chance to dry out after each use as I mentioned above.

ok update, I thought I knew how to get to the duct on where you spray the AC stuff but I just popped the hood and have no clue. I read a post about how to do it, it sounded easy but I dont understand how. Maybe someone has photos? Let me know I can use the help ASAP

Do you see the black plastic piece that sits just below the bottom of the windshield (DF just made a replacement piece with a Hepa filter on it, check the vendors section if you haven't seen it yet)? Pop off the push pins, remove the plastic (or just hold it up) and you'll see the opening leading down to the a/c area :) I'm assuming you spray down there according to what I've read so far.

whats confusing is people keep saying "bottom of the windshield" is this under the hood or inside the interior? I am assuming under the hood, there is a huge plastic piece that goes across the front, I dont see how this will move or come off or lift back HELP

The push pins are located under the rubber weatherstrip located on the end closer to the front of the car.
