Okay...I noticed from a previous thread that my ABS regulator pump is actuating after I start the car and start accelerating. It actuates for about 8 seconds or less and goes away. Its doing this whenever I start the car and goes away....which means it doesnt keep recycling. The question is why is it doing it whenever I start and accelerate the one time every time?

Just talked to Acura mechanic and he said its normal to occur after start. The ABS system was designed to actuate after start to prevent buildup or coagulation of contaminents in the line or actuators....so nothing to worry about unless the system continuously recharges. My abs only makes the noise from a fresh start and moving forward...for 5 seconds or so.... WHEW

The pump runs any time the presure is low which after sitting the presure can drop off and need to be brought back up so it is normal to hear the pump run after a start. The pump may be running at other times but you can't hear it because or road or engine noise. You may what to do a few wet pavement ALB (ABS) stops to exersize the valves which may make the pump run less often or you can do the flush procedure which is a 24 month maintenance item.

Yikes... mine did that for a while and eventually died on me. I finally had some ABS parts replaced ($1200 or so later) and everything is fine.

Hey dudes. The problem with that constant running ABS pump is something that I just had SOS look at for me last week. What happens is that as the system gets old, the seals in the accumulator begin to leak pressure back into the ABS reservoir. The pump then cycles on to bring pressure back up. The worse your seals are, the more often the pump will cycle, obviously.

On a recent group drive, my ABS pump ran for about 100 miles constantly. Believe me, it's a seriously annoying noise to have to listen to for that long. If I had a gun on me, I would have shot that stupid pump. After Jeff, the tech @ Science Of Speed flushed out the system, he found that 2 of the internal solenoid valves were not functioning, and that the accumulator was shot to hell.

In other words, I had no ABS function even though the damn pump was on a constant mission to create pressure.
We eventually unplugged the pump, until I have the system repaired. This consists of replacing pretty much the entire ABS system, for about $1200-$1500 bucks, as someone else mentioned above.

Yeah...it only runs for bout 5 seconds or so intermittently....usually after sitting for the week...dont drive it all the time :-) . I drove it and slammed on the brakes a couple of times...seems to have helped a lot as I only hear it intermittently now and not ongoing. Crossed fingers!
