ABS NSX Bumpers?

Does anyone know what type of plastic our bumpers are made of?

The materials are called out in the factory body shop manual. I only have the 1993 manual which shows the bumpers as PBT-P (polybutylene terephthalate) and the lower skirts are PP (polypropylene). The only ABS is the mirror housing. Hopefully you can get someone with the later manual to respond for your 2001.

Good luck with the work! You have me curious on materials as well. However you go about the process, careful with handling phthalates - nasty stuff!

Car bumpers are often made out of ABS.
NSX bumpers to be exact are,

Upper section PBT-P (Polybutylene terephthalate)
Lower section and skirt PP (Polypropylene)
Headlights, fuel lid and side sills PA6/PPE-M (Polyamide/Polyphenyen ether)

I have always liked the front end of my NSX and have wanted to fill in the running lights and add new headlights. I just do not want a full 02 conversion.

I purchased the same fiberglass sections you used. I am only going to use them as a template. I have a spare bumper that I will use for the filler. This way I will not have all the cracking from PPT to fiberglass. I'm not trying to save a buck I just do not like the 2002 bumpers.
