Has anyone heard when a re-design of the MDX will take place.

Also, I understand the new RL will be coming in the fall of 04. Anyone seen any spy pics. I know Acura is tight lipped about this stuff, but I was hopeful someone might have something.

Thanks in advance.

most speculation is that MDX will be redesigned in 2006. This is based on the fact that the MDX was launched in 2001, got major upgrades in 2003, people still have to get on a waiting list to buy a MDX, and the fact that Honda has to launch the RL, and next gen Odyssey before it gets to the MDX.

Typically, Honda does complete redesign every 10 years, with a significant upgrade in the model every 5 years. EG: Honda Accord redesigned in 1993, upgrades in 1998, complete overhaul 2003.

The RL has been on a longer schedule just b/c Honda has given up on this generation(poor sales). I keep hearing speculation of 2005 launch.

In the case of the Honda Accord, this is not true.
It is my understanding that a major redesign takes place exactly every four years. While there may be slight tweaks here and there(lighting design, badging, special model ID, etc..), the vehicle is essentially the same.

1979-1981, 1982-1985, 1986-1989, 1990-1993
1994-1997, 1998-2001, 2002-2005

These are the Accord redesign years only, as I am unsure if this extends to all models.

Honda has moved to 5 year redesigns on its bread and butter cars. The last Accord was 1998-2002.

Thanks for the update..............I thought I was an Accord expert!!:p

here is a useless tid bit I remember from my Honda Parts days:

Did you know the Special Edition Accord comes out every 4 years??

starting with the 1984, 1988, 1992, 1996, 2000, ......so this year they should be offering one.

the earlier ones were called SEi

boy are we a bunch of Honda geeks or what.:D

I guess we are all right. Honda used to cycle q 4 years, with complete overhall q 8. But recently they switiched to 5/10 cycle. Toyota does the same, so I guess Honda decided to save some money and follow toyota's lead

Except of course the NSX, which is the "17-year locust" of the Honda family.;)
