A Report For All Weight Watchers

Ok...2926lbs with a 1/4 tank of gas in dead stock trim...
I weigh in at 2725...we'res the other 201lbs go?
That's a good question. Here's what we know about, based on your description and how much we know that things weigh (from here):

40 pounds Passenger seat
29 pounds spare tire/wheel
17 pounds air pump/jack/tool kit
15 pounds engine cover
8 pounds wheels (just guessing, correct me if I'm off)
22(?) pounds muffler
(floor/trunk mats don't count; they are options so they are not included in the stock curb weight)

That adds up to 131 pounds. I don't know where the other 70 pounds went. You mention "a few other things I can't really think of", that might amount to something...? If your gas tank was actually a couple of gallons under 1/4 (whether indicated as such on the gauge or not), that could amount to 12 pounds. Unless you can say what those few other things are and they reasonably account for a difference of 58-70 pounds, I would chalk the difference up to scale inaccuracy.

Hey Gary (ncdogdoc), you've gutted your race car, haven't you? Removed all the interior niceties and such? What does yours weigh?
2580 lbs with a few gallons of gas!

OT: why does the  no longer work?

EDIT: Ken, you're right: the "Disable Smilies in This Post" box is checked. I guess I must have checked it by accident (duh). My bad. <img src="http://www.nsxprime.com/ubb/redface.gif">

(Note that this process typically has a very nice net weight reduction, even though the material removed is partially offset by adding the weight of a roll bar or cage.)

I still have AC (not functioning) and electric windows and standard battery. Still have stock suspension and rotors. Using stock 15/16 wheels. Inside is gutted. Dream28 replaces cats and muffler. Lightweight hatch. Race buckets. I weighed in at Roebling with very little gas and the passenger seat out of the car, and came in at 2575lbs. I really believe I have another 200 pounds to go, but will put at least 100-125 back in with cage etc. It is streetable, but not for the faint of heart. Absolutely a blast to drive. Even two hundred pounds makes a world of difference in this car.

I don't know, but I reported it here, where I'm sure Lud will reply if he knows anything about it.

EDIT: Ojas, I see that it worked fine in my reply here. Is it possible that your post checked the box that says "Disable smilies in this post"?

Gary,

That is an awesome accomplishment. I've really been curious how light they can go, and you certainly seem to be the leader in that category. ;)

I think the wheels were 4lbs each for the fronts and 2lbs each in the rear, which is 12lbs. So 135. I was slightly under 1/4 of a tank because I got to the track with a 1/4 of a tank and had 3 runs so it was less than that...lets say 147. I have comptech springs and Bilstein Shocks...I'm pretty sure they are a bit lighter than stock. Also, ultra light flywheel (previous owner installed). Other than that, I guess it may have been the scales error...

So from now on I'll say my car weighs in at ~2775...that ok?

You can say anything you want. ;) If it were my car and I were quoting an actual weight like that, I would add the words "...with under 1/4 tank of gas" or "empty"...
