I am looking to buy a NSX . The cars A/C acts funny though.

They guy said, "A/C and fan work fine on high setting, fan does not seem to blow on other settings but A/C still cold."

Why would the fan only blow on the high setting?

Thanks ahead of time.

This is a common problem with older NSX's, the capacitors go bad in the climate control unit and one of the symptoms is the fan only running on high. Most of the time replacment of the caps takes care of the problem but leakage from the failed capacitors damages the circuit board.

The Cliff Notes Version is that one of 2 things have happened:

1. The capacitors on the climate control board have started leaking. You can repair the board through several 3rd party services for $100, or buy a new one for $600. This can happen in any year car, and is due to the fact that 105deg caps were used in an enviornment that they are not well suited for (esp in warmer climates).

2. The blower motor failed. This is probably only the case if the car is a 91-92, and is covered by TSB 92-007.

Cheers,
Mark

Edit, just foundout the Brian posted above me. He fixed my spare board. Thanks Brian!
