A little bit of context — I'm loving my 1997 6-speed but was a bit surprised at the rev-hang issue with the DBW throttle system. Between shifts, the revs would hang (and sometimes increase) and makes it difficult to shift quickly and smoothly. I adjusted my driving style a bit to compensate but I wanted to see if there was a way to remedy this issue. FWIW I started making a list of potential solutions here — http://www.nsxprime.com/forum/showt...-drive-by-wire-rev-hang-(potential)-solutions
One thing I noticed when reading the list of changes by model year (http://www.nsxprime.com/wiki/Changes_by_Year) was that in 1998, the throttle computer was changed. I wasn't able to figure out the specifics of what changed, so I decided to gamble. I found a 1998 M/T ECU on eBay, picked it up and brought it to a dealership to have the immobilizer re-programmed so that I could finish the swap. I'm happy to report that the rev hang is *significantly* reduced. It's not completely gone, but is at the point now where it doesn't interfere nearly as much as before when shifting. I'm sure at least something else is different from the original '97 ECU but for now I'm pretty happy. I'll be keeping an eye on things moving forward just to make sure.
Anyways, just wanted to share. This ends up not affecting many others (maybe just the '97 owners out there).
