Hello fellow NSX owners,
I just went up last evening to Sacramento Raceway for some 1/4 mile test and tuning. I had a total of 7 runs.
Here is what I have:
1992 NSX with 5 speed tranny.
Japanese short gears
Davis race clutch
Junn light-weight flywheel
K&N filter charger intake
Comptech exhaust
Stock 15/16" wheel setup with A022 tires
Tire pressure set at 32 pounds

ET: MPH:
1st 14.063 102.814
2nd 14.511 102.812
3rd 13.915 102.066
4th 13.613 103.363
5th 13.609 103.486
6th 13.940 103.489
7th 13.611 103.824

Basically I was testing out everything from keeping the traction control on for the first run but I bogged first gear. The second run is with TCS off but I took off at around 3-3,200 RPM which I spun the entire first gear. 3rd run was launched at 2,200-2,400 RPM which I had a first gear bog again. 4th run I took off at 2,500-2,700 RPM and had some wheelspin and wheelhop but that was one of the best runs that I had. The 5th run was the same, thus a very similar time and speed. The 6th run I got a little over anxious and took off between 2,300 to 2,500 and bogged it again. Lost my concentration. The 7th and last run I regained my composure and took off at 2,500-2,700 with another 13.6 ET at 103+ mph.
I was wondering if these times are slow for my car or not. It seems that the track was very slow that evening as there were a number of cars that were way slower than thay should have been.
Regardless, I had a fun and memorable evening as on my 5th run, I went side by side with a 2002 Corvette Z06 with 405 hp, cold air intake and exhaust. He told me his car should be putting out about 430 hp. I saw his times throughout the evening and he was running a consistent 108 mph through the traps. I thought that was way slower than what he should be turning. Anyway, I ran him on that heat and took him with my 13.6 to his 13.7. Again, my speed was 103mph and his was 108mph. I felt sssoooo good after that run. Although I fouled by .042 of a second, my E.T. was 1 tenth faster than his. The clock does not start ticking until we cross the start and cross the finish line. Technically I lost but anyway you slice it, I went through the traps faster than he did on that particular run. His best time that evening was a 13.4 and he was running from that to a high of a 14.1. Blame the driver? With all that power, he should have at least ended up with a 113+ mph trap speed. He was about 5 mph off. Another example was a Ford Lightning who I saw made a pass at only 15.5. Aren't those suppose to run a high 13? Anyway, the next time I go back to Sacramento will be when I get my Basch Supercharger installed. Will post again in a few months. Wish me luck!
