Anyone seen the autotrader add with a black 91 NSX with ivory seats listed for $51,000.00? It's been there for a while and says it has 0km. A friend of mine is really interested but was wondering if I could send out a thread to see what the community thought about the car and to see if offering $44,000.00 would be a reasonable offer.

is that the one at guleph honda? apparently wasnt there a story to the car? and your right its been there for a while interesting not really a fan of the ivory interior though

the white one at bulington acura looks really good too...love that white color with 69k on it

More importantly wouldn't it need a lot of work to run reliably? If it was a show car that's been sitting idle I'm sure it would need a bit of work.

There is no such thing as 0KM on a car.. Before it even leaves Japan, they run it on their tracks there... so a brand brand brand new car will have a least a few kilometers on it.

1. Its a 91, so you need to check serial # on tranny to make sure its not in snap-ring range, if so needs replacement of housing, etc...

2. Needs a timing belt change right off the bat, can you imaging driving around in a 18 year old timing belt?

3. conversion needs to be done on the A/C

4. all fluids change: gasoline, washer fluid, a/c fluid, tranny fluid, oil, radiator coolant.

5. window-thingy needs updating to a metalic type - both doors

6. Car phone - no longer usable, no serial access exists in Canada, I think its all digital now.

I'm sure there's more.... for $51K, no thank you.

P.S. I love how all the NSX cars in autotrader.ca have price tags >=35k, awesome! Love that this car can hold its value... (at least in Canada)

I think if you could get it for somewhere in the 40's you'd be doing well. Most cars need maintenance - and changing the fluids, belts etc would reset the car for you.

There is a collector in the US selling his undriven car for $80k. USD.

You get perfect paint, interior and other benefits to. I wouldn't worry one bit about it. If it's a dealer you could negotiate - but the NSXCC Club Technical advisor could do all the work for you and save you a bunch of $$$.

BTW - post a link.

Yeah that is the one Will. I'll pass the info posted here to my friend and he can make his decision. He seems really excited to get it ever since he sat in my car for a drive. I told him it'll be a bit different as that's a 91 and mine's an 03 but overall still pretty much the same car.

cool keep us updated to why that car hasnt sold for so long sean

and like i said sean whenever your in the area hit me up haha i know even after sitting in your nsx i still wont be able to afford it..but in time the nsx will be mines haha

I looked at this car for another member a few week ago... and it is NOT in perfect condtion with "0" KM, if I remembered the mileage to be around 17000 Miles.

It is a US car with two pervious owner, no service history, Radio don't work, window's need repairing and the tires are mis-matched. I was not able to sit in the car or look at the engine, but I would say a TB/H2O service would be required.

The dealer seem's to think that he have a Gem in the showroom, but it is far from it.

Other itmes that you need to consider:
- Air condition
- Wind screen Moulding
- Trunk and hatch struts
- New Tire
- Windows
- Replace all fluids
- Check Clutch

Price wise, if you have to get all these things checked and corrected, you can offer between 35-37K

Hey bram

hows the paint look like besides all those problems that might have to be fixed?

looks great from the pictures but i guess pictures are hard to tell

cool in your estimation with all the required items that are still outstanding on the car i wonder how much all those preventative and required repairs would cost on top of the actual price of this car...maybe 6k on top to fix all those stuff

6k might be on the high side, but you'd have a refreshed car at the end of those services. Call Erin Mills for a quote on all the work (they do a discount for club members that given the amount of work being done you'd save a bunch).

The radio you can send out to have repaired. I did with mine a few years ago and it came back perfect. The rest is pretty common NSX problems that everyone sees in their car. It's just showing up all at once with this one.

Hey thanks for the details Bram! I just relayed that to my friend. He took the day off tomorrow to drive up and check out the car so I forwarded your findings to him. Told him to offer $35/36k starting if they refuse to address the concerns that have been listed on this thread. Thanks again to everyone for your insights.

17,000 miles, for a 1991 is actually quit incredible if you think about it.. they may not go for 35k. Probably 40-43k?

I should check with my friend and see what happend. $40-43K is what I thought before but Bram's seen the car and it needs work. If he gets them to $40 though I think he's dine well. The dealership's gonna want to hit their margins I'm sure... and the sales man his commission...lol :)

Sorry to bump an old thread, thought I'd humor a few of you guys.

Like Bram stated, the car isn't perfect. I looked over it for 30 mins today. It's a funny thing because they didn't recognize me, I've bought 2 new cars from them in the last 5 years (S2000 and Si).

Well, whom ever did the detailing job wasn't good, wax residue everywhere... tires miss match, rims have peeling on the centre caps, plus looks like the coating on them is wearing too.

I talked to a salesman there plus the GM... those guys honestly make me laugh. They bragged that they have show pieces to show 'off', high priced NSX and the newer convertible Shelby Cobra that has been sitting on the dealer lot for over a year.

The one guy thought he was smart and tried rhyming the stats off, told him I was checking out an 02. "They never made an NSX past 2000"

Sorry pal, they did, until 05. That car is 30-35K max as you'd have to change all the wear-ables like Bram stated above.

The guys there made me laugh, no wonder they won't sell.
