After owning my 98'nsx-t for four years, I am already onto my 2nd major service for it. My first service cost just under $7k and now my 2nd major is $7500. Owning the car for four years, I have not had the pleasure or opportunity to spoil the car with goodies/mods but have at least had the pleasure of driving it over 60k miles and lots of oil and rubber....

Yeh alot of cars have not even had their first major service including many 91's. People assume because its a Honda it doesn't need it and neglect then the next buyer comes along.

I am sorry, but how are you spending $7,500 for a major service? What are you having done? Those costs seem extremely expensive. I've had major services on mine as well, but the costs were around one third of what you've spent.

WTF are the doing for $7500?

I have a 2000 and I follow the MX schedule in the Service Manual by time (I have 24,000 miles) fairly thouroughly. The only "major" expenses to date have been the Timing Belt/Water Pump - $1700.

I have done everything myself, except TB, as the two local Acura dealers are out and out crooks (especially in this economy - where the only rev is service). The last time I took the car in for an oil change they handed me a bill for $90 (and I brought the oil).

I ripped the service manager up and down - YELLING IN FRONT OF ALL THE CUSTOMERS "YOU HAVE TO BE SH*TING ME, $90 & I BROUGHT THE F-ING OIL. YOU F-CKED ME AND DIDN'T EVEN BUY ME DINNER. DID YOU GO TO LAW SCHOOL? ARE YOU SURE, BECAUSE THE LAST C-CK S-CKER THAT TRIED TO F-CK ME THIS MUCH THOUGHT HE DID.

He cut it down to $30 to get me out the door. Haven't been back since.

I can't imagine what they are doing for $7500, unless they are refilling the car with Unobtainium.

$15K in 4 yrs??!!! WTF are you getting done: JDM muffler bearings, Castrol SRF blinker fluid, & they rotated your flux capacitor?? I hope they used lots of lube for whatever they did for those reamings.

Timing belt, water pump, TB tensioner, ABS hose & service, cam plugs, & valve adjustment is only ~ $1900.

Obviously (?) crooked, but they got you for 7K the first time, why wouldn't they go for 7.5K the second? Figuring that you would chalk up the extra 500 as inflation.

What surprising guys, dealer rates.

1. $3800 6-Speed clutch
2. $1800 timing belt water pump all fluids, misc brakes etc..
3. $2000 A/C compressor

$7600 not including bose speakers, Climate control unit, tires.

Common problems everyone faces them one day. Doc308 a Ferrari F355 and 348 clutch cost's less than an NSX.

Why's everyone being so harsh?

If he has the money to spend on the car...let it be.

Since that maybe the case, let me be the first to offer him a deal to do the next major service for only $5K... That's a $2500 savings from your last major service...

A 360 major doesn't even cost that much. That is way to much money. I would call the cops someone needs to go to jail.

Cut him some slack guys, Bernard Madoff is his mechanic!

you guys are so mean!!!!! but i feel the same way, that is waay too much money.

I think it comes to the owner and how much work wants to be performed in order to keep it's NSX as good as new, done by a dealer/mechanic or himself ... my NSX previous owner spent a lot I have all records and the guy really did a PHENOMENAL job replacing everything that was a "bit" worn

As the records performed by the dealer show, @ 55K he not only replaced the Timing Belt + Water pump, but also the whole power steering rack, new antenna mast, all trunk seals, all fluids, alignment, etc etc ,,,,, so much more from brakes to tires etc the bill is very high ....

I am amazed and glad he did that way, no wonder my X drives straight and disturbingly perfect ... it feels as new as my 02 S2k felt when I got it with 15K miles in 05 .... all "major" servicing on my nsx was done @ 38 / 47 / 55 k miles ...

Personally I have replaced front/rear brake pads myself, oil (royal purple), oil filter, brake fluid in the last month and that could cost a lot on the dealer .... now I know doing Water pump + TB alone will be around 1.6K and that definitely doing @ the dealer as well other major things (I hope nothing goes wrong) ... again, it's all in the owner ..

I agree with Hal. I had these services as well with a NSX Certified Tech at an Acura dealership.

1. JDM muffler bearings, including lubrication - $375
2. Castrol SRF blinker fluid, plus flush and add new fluid - $440
3. Rotate flux capacitor, including cleaning of capacitor - $550

Just goes to show, you have to shop around for your services or you stand the possibility of getting ripped off. There are a lot of jerks out there. Be careful guys.

since when does an AC compressor cost $2k? And what clutch costs almost $4K!??? You can get an aftermarket clutch for about $1500 and a new AC compressor for about $800...... your #'s dont add up dude.

Remember five speed and six speed cluches are different. I could see someone getting a six speed cluch replacement estimate with parts and labor for around $3,500.
