7,000 Dollar Question

How about the trim rings on the gauges?

anyone try them?

Trim rings are pretty much a must have modification. They are cheap and they substantially improve the look of the instrument cluster.

Many people have them and as far as I know all of them are happy with them. I am.

"I don't care if it has electric windows. I don't care if the door gaps are straight (or there are trim rings on the dash) but when the driver steps on the gas I want him to shit his pants."
Enzo Ferrari

By all means, trim rings are insignificant.

But, if you can make them shit their pants and enjoy the look of your cluster, so much the better.

I would get a nice sounding exhaust and a set of 17"/18" wheels and save the rest. Those mods are easly to reverse and if you buy used, you can recoup the money pretty easily.

+1 on this. If your already happy with your NSX's stock wheels then don't bother but if you don't care for the look of them then an aftermarket set is a nice cosmetic addition to the car that most people can appreciate and then can later be sold if you change your mind and want to go back to stock. The same thing goes for an nice aftermarket exhaust. Maybe you don't mind the sound of the stock exhaust (i didn't) but if you want more power then there is no cheaper way to get it and if you can't stand the new sound then you probably won't lose too much money reselling it here on Prime.

Other than those two upgrades the rest is up to you and can get very expensive fast. FI will completely change the way the car drives and cost you allot of money to do it so you better be sure thats what you want before you take that plunge.

The stereo is also a very debatable upgrade. If your Bose systems works like it should then live with it until it no longer does. If your satisfied with the way it sounds then just stick with it. Upgrading the stereo gets costly because you also typically have to get a new center console and thats not a cheap venture getting it done right. Then factor in a decent amp, speakers, sub, box and install and i'll bet your probably a couple grand into it.

You really should just spend some time with the car and then you will probably realize the things that you need to upgrade. Then come here and do your homework on that area and have fun with it. $7k can go fast with a car like the NSX so don't jump on an idea until your sure its the right direction you want to go in.

The fender gap is an easy and fairly cheap fix. Bilsteins on the lower perch will reduce the gap and really improve the looks. Lowers the car just under an inch really doesn't change the ride much. Wait awhile and get some seat time bofore anything else. F/I is expensive but imo worth it.

Hide your money now & avoid the Prime Marketplace - $7K just isn't enough in my book.

first welcome, you just need to lurk around nsxprime more, you will soon find out your $7000 budget won't get you too far, and all the sudden you will want to rephrase your question to

SHOULD I??

If you could get the mod bug away, or hold it as long as you could, you should, as usually it's one thing lead to another, it'll never end and you'd find out your wallet is the only limiting factor.

the nut behind the wheel is the best upgrade you can do and besides you can use that upgrade on every single car you buy the rest of your life.

That's what I'm talkin' about! A reputable performance driving school should be mandatory anyone that wants to get the most out of their car. Wouldn't hurt if it was required in order to get a license, period.

You're joking right? It's Bose, it was born broken! How anyone with even the minimal appreciation for music could be happy with that crap sound system defies rational thought.

Save your money on the stereo upgrade. If you put an exhaust on it the stereo won't matter anyway!
