So I rearended some guy yesterday. I was in the left lane at a standstill. Moved over to the right lane, and my car didnt stop in time so I hit the guy at around 2mph. I was already braking when I hit the guy. I was in an isuzu amigo with plastic bumper and the guy ahead of me had a truck with chrome bumper. There are no visible damages. The guy said there might be internal damage. Is it true that tehre could be internal damages at 2mph bump?

I dont want my insurance to go up and the guy was such a dick I wanted to bitch slap him. any case, your input is much appreciated.

thanks,

Nick

this happened to me - 91 nsx - and within a matter of months the paint started to seperate from the bumper itself (primer/paint). It looked as if it was blistering. Eventually, It got so bad that I just had to reshoot the bumper.

I know you don't see visual damage but because the paint in the bumper has a flex agent mixed in, which allows for some play, you have to wonder if it seperated from the bumper itself. When I started to peel the paint off the bumper... The paint/primer was so thick it almost felt like a three layers of electical tape. I was very impressed by honda.

Hope that helps.

I would have to say no internal damage either. I know on FMC trucks, at worst the rear brackets could've gotten slightly bent but not enough to make a difference on the effectiveness of the bumper.
If they did get bent, simply removing and bending them back should work. Worse case, about $40-50 for four new ones.

knowing this really makes me want an NSX

Bumpers are called '5 mph bumpers' for a reason. There should not be ANY damage at 2 mph.
