25mm wheel spacers vs 15mm spacers

always wondered about spacers... are they safe to run, do they put more stress on suspension components? Do they change the suspension geometry by pushing the wheels outward?

I am having my OEM wheels refinished and mounting a set of Falken Azenis on my '91 Formula Red. I have bought a set of 5mm spacers to try out.

However, I think an even wider stance would be a better look. I like the appearance of the 25mm spacer/adapters. I plan on tracking the car a few times and am also concerned about using the 25mm adapters. Is their any merit to this? Has anyone tracked their car aggressively and had any issues?
