2500 rpm, 60mph, Oil Gauge at 7???

This is probably a really simple question but is that where it should be? When I first started the car, the oil reading was at 7 even at 2000rpm, after it warmed up, it settled at 7 when I was going 60mph at 2500 rpm. I have an 01 with 3500 miles.

Do I just need to add more oil? Is it normal to need more oil after 3500 miles? I don't drive aggressively. (a few accelerations but not often)

Oh...and I think I've seen this discussion before but what kind of oil (10w40, 10w30?)

Thanks.

I'm assuming you mean 7 on the pressure gauge? If so: The pressure gauge is not meant to be an indication of oil level, just pressure. Use the dip-stick in the engine bay for level. Just like any other car. Check owners manual.

Go to the NSX FAQ (answers to Frequently Asked Questions); click here for the FAQ table of contents. Scroll down to the "Troubleshooting" heading and you will see that there is a section called "Oil Pressure". Click on that section, and scroll down to the part where it says, "What Is A Normal Oil Pressure Reading?"

Look in your owner's manual to see how to check your oil level. If you don't have an owner's manual, you can order one from here.

It's not normal to need more oil after 3500 miles, but it is normal to need to change oil after 3500 miles.

NSXs do not normally consume oil between changes. However, you should still check the oil level from time to time; the owner's manual recommends it at every fuel stop. Furthermore, most NSX owners fall into the "severe driving conditions" category for scheduled maintenance (most often due to "repeated short distance driving"). That means that the engine oil and oil filter should be replaced every 3750 miles or 3 months, whichever comes first. You're now due for an oil change.

This, too, is answered in your owner's manual. (10W30 is recommended.)

Read your owner's manual. It has a lot of useful information in it.

Checked the oil, couldn't tell where on the dipstick it should be. Took it to an Acura dealer, they checked the oil, oil level is fine. They don't know why my oil pressure goes up to 7 when only at 2500 rpm. I'm supposed to go back on Monday when the NSX tech is there.

Any other ideas on why this is happening? Is it ok to drive the car?

Thanks.

Do you have something against looking things up in your owner's manual?

The following is true for almost any car. On the dipstick there are two holes, or on some cars, two grooves. The top mark represents "full" (where you ideally want the oil level to be) and the bottom mark represents "down one quart".

You should check the oil when the car is warm (as it advises in the you-know-what). Wipe the dipstick off before checking it, so you can see what the oil level is.

I have nothing against checking my manual. I have been at work all day and don't keep an extra NSX manual at work. Besides, I'm past the point of checking the oil, the level is fine.

I'm looking for some possibilities on why my oil pressure gauge would go so high even though my RPMs are low.

Thanks.

if your that worried just take your own advise and wait until monday to have it checked out by the nsx tech.it wont kill you to let her sit a day.if you do have, want to drive her remember you do have a safety blow off for excessive pressure.maybe take her for a drive and check to see if she is blowing off any oil(doubt it)have the tech check your sending unit.go to the online faq like ken said and read up on your car

Is it normal for the oil pressure to drop during WOT? as the higher my RPM's get the oil pressure drops from about 3/4 to 1/2 or so....I was told that the oil is being distributed in the engine due to WOT...?
