How about the NSX? I know Kip Olsen ran A048s for the Sport Compact Car Ultimate Street Car Challenge last year (tread pattern in picture although the spec sheet said they were 225/35-18 Bridgestones).

Danny
I can't comment on Kip's vehicle, I would speculate he may have been limited by the rules of the event so far as rubber. I'm not sure if that specific event allowed for R-Compounds, I'm certain someone else on here will know. For some of the events they prohibit them. For example as I recall for One Lap last year they specified a treadwear 140 and limited brands so most were running on PS2's or Bridgestones; simply operating within the scope of the rules as best as they could do gain the best competitive advantage.
Anyways, if the upped profile size is your concern per the post title, the A048's like other offerings just aren't offered in the 35 series front, 40 only. You can push it up. I've run 225/40/18's before for the front coupled with really wide rears by swapping wheels among vehicles. Although, I'm not sure on stock offsets with the fender liners... you might have to ask around..
For the NSX, I've found that you can typically edge it up.. so long as you keep the section width down on those taller 40-18 series profiles. For a narrower 225 the outter diameter spec is right around 25" or so depending on the tire, which is tighter on the clearances- puts the front end up a bit more, might not get full lock to lock...etc... but all in all still manageable so far as fitment after you get the suspension and everything all setup.
For reference, for the A048's the 225/40/18 is an equivalent outter diameter to their 255/40 WR17 and Bridgestone's 255/35/18's which I've used for fronts before without any significant issues so far as the outter diameter.
