2021 on order - est. March build!

My experience: I placed an order via powdbyrice on January 15th with an est. May build, On March 17th I confirmed my specs. On the visual timeline provided it showed Accepted-Trim Locked- EC/IC/Locked- FIF locked-All config. locked. This was sent to me by powdbyrice on April 16th. He then confirmed my completion date of May 27th. It when then be shipped to his dealership and then trucked to Houston for me to see it. I just wanted to share my wonderful experience (and price) and service that he has provided. I spoke with the local dealers and they told me prices but when I went to order it, they told me nothing was guaranteed.

I feel that powdbyrice is the most knowledgeable, professional, honest, and fair NSX salesman there is!

powdbyrice is on point! I think he needs to coach the folks I bought from.....wish I'd have found him first :(

Good tip on the screenshot !!

It's a common issue with many Acura dealers. In the early 90's, AHM made a concerted effort- with a lot of training and budget support- to make the Acura experience special. At that time, they were acutely aware of the asian stigma that they would have to overcome to lure customers over from BMW and Mercedes. So, they invested a lot of time and money in getting the dealers to deliver a premium car shopping and service experience. I remember it well and it was great- no matter if you were buying an Integra or a NSX, Acura laid out the red carpet for you. Same for service. The techs were well paid, long term employees that had pride in their work and the Acura/Honda brand.

Those days are almost totally gone. Now, both the sales floor and service shop are a revolving door. Going to an Acura dealer feels like any other car dealer and it's clear they just want to move cars, make money and bilk customers. The service techs are not well paid and are pressured to move quickly, which results in careless work that often causes more issues for the owner. DocL's experience with his NSX is probably the most egregious example. It's not just Acura, but the car dealer experience has gotten so bad that disruptors like Tesla are trying to blow up the whole model. And, they have a lot of public support because of all these issues.

So, we're lucky to have a guy like powdbyrice around for NC1 buyers. He's a rare bird in an industry that is only getting worse. Every dealer should have a NSX specialist (via direct and intensive training from AHM- not from the dealer) salesperson and a NSX trained (at the PMC) tech who are experts on both the Gen1 and Gen2 cars. They should be paid a high premium versus their peers for this training and there should be some form of long-term expectation set by the dealer in terms of employment. All of this should be mandated by AHM to keep the slime ball dealers in line, who will find every loophole and way to cut corners possible. These folks should be experts on the car (both generations), and even better, owners of a NSX if possible. They should be the only people with whom NSX buyers or owners should speak when at the dealer.

None of this will happen. LOL

Last car dealership experience I had, worked with the used car sales manager and he was awesome - different brand, lower price point. Super passionate about customer service and the product - it was a real joy to work with him since he so clearly loved getting the right car in the buyer's hands. Fun to work with people who love what they do like he does!

The last three car buying experiences I had were crap.

My CTS-V: (Penske salesmen ganged up on me, I walked out and they made the deal I wanted chasing after me in the parking lot).

My NSX: Sales manager was a total prick, dealership (RUSNAK) closed two months later (I heard it was because of him).

My CAMRY: Sales manager LIED and I had to deal with the corp offices (AUTONATION) in Florida (who were great!).

 Car should arrive at dealer next week, shipment to me should be day or two after it arrives. I have a VIN number now! Things getting real. CPatel_Bos - wonder how far apart our serial #s will be? Cleaning up the garage a little more this weekend to get ready for delivery. Bummed it won't be before the long weekend.

exciting stuff....remember your paint cure time...

Hey nsx_454, what are the last 6 digits of your VIN mine are 000015 (which means 15th NSX of the model year) and my NSX number was #02452 . Maybe an easy way to do the math to see your build with nuances for international deliveries.

docjohn - ooooo yes. Will need to start a countdown clock on the paint cure time. CPatel_Bos VIN ends in 000033 - am taking that means #16 - #32 were between us in the US, perhaps? Very curious.

You can't make this stuff up. My beautiful X arrived at the dealer this week. The dealer is faaaar across the country from yours truly...which I didn't even think about when ordering, because I was going to take delivery in Ohio! Which is close to the DC area! All good.

Long story short - which always means long story: Several weeks ago, I picked a company to ship the car. The dealer (who has not been an excellent partner in the process to put it...mildly) freaked out "oh they are not good, we had a bad experience with them," so I say, ok tell me who you recommend. Used the dealers company - they assign a driver / pickup date, and cancel on me last minute. Twice. So instead of this beautiful set of wheels being safely on their way across the country. They are sitting in the dealer. And I am kicking myself (again).

I go back to my original choice of company (which has been recommended here and other places!) and they say, "Oh we are so sorry, our pickup lead times are running about 5-8 weeks." As we all know, supply chains, driver shortages, etc etc. So I ask him, "How much can I pay you to expedite this?" So for ~4x the cost we now have a private shipment scheduled to run across the country with just the X, a pickup date estimated for next week.

Things that are annoying about this: (1) I should have gone with my original choice of transport company (2) This dealer hasn't even been good! So its not like I used a dealer on the other side of the country, had an excellent experience, and am now managing this final step - the whole process has been a bummer (3) I just want my car! I've been waiting since the 90s!

Also, please note I have had to tell the dealer multiple times - NO I do not want you to detail the NSX, stay away from it! - and NO I do not want you to install the front license plate. At this point...I'm worried I'm going to receive the shipment of an Acura ILX with a cruddy "detail" job and two front license plates.

So - appreciate your thoughts and prayers! (If anyone is in CA and may want a road trip to visit my NSX at the dealer, I'll buy the gas.)

NSX_454 - sorry to hear about your shipping fiasco. This must be insanely frustrating for you! Car looks amazing and hope you can take delivery ASAP!

nsx_454 I hope you get your car soon... I am currently sitting in your shoes from a couple weeks ago. Heard my car is finished at the factory and due to the holiday weekend will not get to powdbyrice until second week of June. Then I hope to get it in Houston couple weeks after that. I can be patient, but knowing the car is finished makes me less patient. nsx_454 can I ask how much was your shipping cost?

Sorry to hear that. I should go visit it. I want to see the Long beach blue they have.

AFAIK, Acura doesn't allow customers to pick up their cars at PMC (unless they changed the policy).

ILXs are cool! It also has a DCT!

Hey nsx_454,

Car looks beautiful! So sorry about your experience can you fly out and pick it up (not that you would want to put all those miles or drive it without the paint curing) but always an option!

Hope it gets there soon!

If it was me I’d fly out and drive it home. Epic road trip. Take the long way home with the wife/GF. If you get a paint chip or two fix them later. Nothing is irreplaceable on it. Many exotics get a respray for road rash and when life gets in the way. Scariest part of the trip is flying to CA.

Thanks all for the commiseration! I was quite close to flying out to CA and doing the road trip....curing be damned....sigh.
@eahumble - the shipping is going to be around $7500 looks like. I bet (and hope!!) your process will go nice and smooth. @powdbyrice - if you decide to say hello, let me know :) I heard alllll about the Long Beach Blue one when I was buying mine - lol. Haven't seen one in person - I bet it looks awesome.

What a winding road this has been.

@djiceman - trust me I am certainly regretting my choice of dealer at this point.

$7500? but private truck is kinda cool!

the past 2 months have been a logistical nighmare for dealerships.

everything is delayed. production, delivery, accessories. you name it.

i've been waiting for a 2022 MDX Advance. its been delayed twice for a total of 2 months. it was supposed to be built last week, but i'm cautiously optimistic.

I believe you can order a NSX from one dealer (e.g. powdbyrice) and have it delivered to another dealer near you. The dealer you purchased from has not been particularly good to deal with either from my experience awhile back.

If I were you, I'd totally do a road trip, maybe get someone local to store it for a couple months, come over and put a PPF on it and head eastward, if you're picky like that :)

If you need a remote pair of hands, let me know

I do not believe you can order from dealer a and have it delivered to dealer b

I tried that in 2016 and that was a no go

I am sure 454 knows but $7500 to move a car cross country is not the number it should be

I understand just trying to get the job done and quickly
