2009 New NSX

I disagree. This car will sell for the same reason that the GT-R is selling. Performance over price. I don't car what it looks like. The GT-R looks like a piece of crap but it's a technical marvel.

As long as Honda offers this car at a price that kills the competition in performance and technology, it will sell.

You make a good point about the GT-R selling even though its hurting in the "looks" department (nice looking car in person, but not an Exotic). But Nissan got out first, and priced it way lower than Honda's $150k target.

So, Honda is two years behind in this sub-category of car buyers, that don't care about looks. ( I hear the GT-R is already being upgraded for next year?). How does this make MORE sense than designing something that looks exotic? I thought the purpose of a Halo car was to bring people into the dealership? GT-R will bring in lots of people to see the technology and Nissan will sell them 270Z's ..... But when the new NSX brings people into Acura/Honda showrooms... what will they sell to that new foot traffic in the $35k - $50k mass market range? Honda needs new sports cars!

So we are back to- "if they price it right?" Speed over looks? Honda over GT-R?.... that all comes down to a $89k price point. MY ONLY POINT ALL-ALONG, DON'T TRY THE $150k PRICE IF YOU"RE NOT GOING TO GIVE US THE ENTIRE PACKAGE! (Speed, Exotic Design, and Reliability).

I hope the new NSX does well, and has a long life like the last NSX. Good Luck HONDA... get it right! No room for mistakes.

.

Rumor has it that the S3000 is coming...who knows...perhaps they'll do a coupe version as well as a drop top this time.

I have to admit, the new Z is kinda cool looking. Would be a fun daily driver.

Yea, 330 hp and a 5.0 sec 0-60 print for less than $32,000 is rather nice. But I'm not feeling the design one bit. I just don't like Nissan designs. It would have been cool to own a modern day NSX. I guess that would be the Audi R8 now. Too bad they only made 13 for the entire world.

being serious here.. i don't find it ugly..it looks ok..however it is not a continuation of the real NSX therefore i HOPE they don't call it an NSX..call it something else..there will only be one NSX and if it is not Mid engine and exotic looking it is a Honda prelude or what ever it will be called

 This 'new' NSX is gonna be a disaster

Well since we're being technical, it can't be called a Prelude or CRX either because it's not FWD.

You don't want the CRX and Prelude lovers in the other forms getting all upset calling this car THEIR name when Honda has changed the platform. It just wouldn't be right.

Someone tried to tell me today that dealerships are taking deposits already and that they have set production numbers at 1000 per year. Not sure where he is getting this.

no offense. but the people who have nsx's and the people who will buy them in the future....have the money to contiunue doing so. if they are concerned about budgeting...buy a civic si :) if i was strapped for cash i wouldnt be like....oh i guess ill buy the gallardo instead of the murcielago because we're strapped for cash

You can say that, and yes, the rich still spending money as $200,000 is chup change for them, however, those same rich will buy a Porsche/Ferrari/Lambo/AMG all day long over a "HONDA/Acura" anytime, period.

Please study the Japanese supercar fate in early 90's. Which included our beloved nsx, and GTO, Rx7, Supra, 300zx..etc. What kills them? (ok, nsx didn't get kill, but take a look at the sales number) Actually, go ask a 91 orignal owner how much they paid over msrp, and then the following years?

and then look at Honda sales number, Honda is one very smart business mind company, pushing a halo car so distance from any other offering simply doesn't make sense. They already had a poor performance money pit, the F1 team.

Some of those photoshops are nice...but of course all we're doing is photoshopping artists renditions. A pic of a pic?

I have high hopes for Acura's new super car. If they even produce it, I'll be surprised. (see demise of the CTS coupe) So lets just cross our fingers that something decent rolls out of a Acura/Honda factory.

However, obviously it will not be the NSX replaced we've all been hoping for or expecting. We'll have to wait a bit longer.

Don't feel bad...the Supra guys have been without a replacement for a lot longer.

Even though I am not a fan...I do have a question. I noticed some "H" emblems I thought they were going to release it under the Acura name.

Power of a good photoshop user who just can't let go the "H" emblem:wink:

so it is suppose to come out under Acura...when does Acura open in Japan and the rest of the world?? Also is Acura the first of the luxery divisions(Lexus, Infiniti) to open in Japan

That's the latest word. The NSX replacement will be at the launch of the Acura dealerships in Japan.

All we have are a bunch of artist renderings designed to sell magazines. KGP Photography is the only source of all the "official" hype. KGP are responsible for all the photos and videos, and even the unofficial lap-time of 7:37. Obviously, they are in on the game.

"The return of Honda to the supercar stage has been long and laboured since the demise of the NSX in 2005. After teasing enthusiasts with the sharky, mid-engine, rear-wheel drive Honda HSC concept in 2003, the production version never materialized. Instead, it was followed up with a front engine, V10-powered rear-wheel drive vehicle called the Advanced Sports Car Concept launched in January at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit. Part of what might have created the delay was the lukewarm response to the vehicle's design, which might’ve instigated a redesign, requiring extra time for development. Honda's officials haven't set a date for when the car will be ready (they never have, even from the start), so it's logical to think that they'll bring it out when it's ready – we’re now hearing it could be 2010, or perhaps even late 2011.

Another blow for Honda's performance car faithful is the delay of the Acura brand for its home market of Japan..."
