2006 NSX in November Motor Trend

Nah, I'm thinking all carbon fiber body with a 10L V12 pushing 150HP per liter NA for a total of 1500 horses, 15k rpm redline, 100mpg, and weights in at just under 2000lbs and cost like the current NSX... :D

Headline 2006: Drivers of the new NSX sues Honda for building a whiplash machine that costs a lotta neck injuries to drivers...

It never hurts to dream... :o

Headline 2007: Honda files bankrupcy... :p

but the NSX will sell like hotcakes in 2006 ;)

but 1964-1998 is not really accurate.

I was a Porsche parts Mgr. for a while, I know they were different. For argument's sake, I meant they were extremely similar body designs. I mean if you want to really narrow it down the car's suspension IMO was one of the biggest design changes, not the engines. The cars had torsion bars until the 964 in 1989 (C4 for those who know:)) then with the 993 the suspension (especially rear) was extremely re-designed.

F'ugly!

Looks like a design copy of this, but with some ugly (IMO) wheels.

Looks like it has a bit of a cokebottle shape to it. I hate the pointed nose and the flat surface around the wheels. Love the thinness of the front bumper. The rest looks Ok and may even be great looking.

You guys should go back and look at auto mags concept drawings of cars that are 2-3 years away from production, especially ones that they do not even have confirmation of engine type, etc. They are almost always way off the mark with the design. I rememeber concept pics of the C5 vette, and even mundane cars like the Accord being shown that were about as accurate to the final product as I would draw if I got a hold of some bad acid right before I picked up the pen and paper. I would love to see the new car and get the specs, but even after the mags get photos of heavily disguised prototypes (taped and fabric/vinyl covering certain parts of the car) they still have a poor record of showing a good rendering of the final product.

Here is what a GM insider says is extremely close to the final product (and the actual spy photos seem to make this likely):

Just looking at the above pics makes me happy I've got a 1991 NSX and a 1984 Corvette available ...what a pack of ugly mutts those concepts are! (my .02 cents)

I saw the NSX pics in Motor Trend today, is it me or do those drawings look like the current Mitsubishi spider? F'ugly indeed. Regarding the Vet, I like the red RT example, though it sort of looks like a cross between the last generation RX7 and the new 350Z....the yellow example is nothing cutting edge, but would not surprise me...

porsche 911 doesn't count....since 996 is totally different than 993....1 is air cool and the other is water cool and look much better even though it's still a Frog

And a beautiful *Frog* it is!! (well at least the 996 anyway IMO);)

Very Gallardo-influenced...right down to the tailpipes. IMO the NSX needs to keep its signature rear end including integrated spoiler and LED. These concept artists can't quite seem to get away from the black canopy that's for sure. The new NSX needs to stay low and long. Everything looks like the 350Z these days. Geez...

ARGH... Good Grief!?!

hmmm, KGB- you must be reading my mind for the past 2-3yrs. . . The AudiTT, 350z/G35, RX-8, Solara/SC430, heck- even the Chrysler coupe`... I pray the next gen' NSX follows none and maintains originality as it did upon it's intro' back in '90 (the 1991model) I am optimistic- as the current gen' NSX was quite in it's own league from the then 300z, RX7, Supra,/SC300-400; it seemed to be Lotus Esprit, 348/355 influenced. The next gen' should be on par w/ the Gallardo-Modena in styling cues, hopefully. :)

I agree totally! Honda is having a winning design in theirs hands and going away from this gorgeous original look will be a HUGE MISTAKE.

More, as soon as Honda will abandon the original NSX tail design, another company will happily jump on it.

And it will be too late...

The NSX is already an icon like the 911, Countach and Diablo.

In that case, the obvious rule is: don't change its look if you aren't sure to introduce a nicer one.

I really don't know why I mention this because it looks like Honda is now having fun to mess ( for not saying f*** ) with theirs successfull design.

The slaughter have already begun with the 02.

The more I see the new 02 NSX front design the more I can't stand it.

In the 1990's, IMO, every Honda/Acura were desirable, I had no problem to imagine myself in a Prelude or CRX or Integra or Accord or Legend...they were all nice and attractive in their own category. I have owned a Civic hatchback SI, an Accord EX and also a CRX...

Today, I am really sorry to say that no one is really inspiring me except for the S2K.

Come on Honda! Wake up!

Major Stoner I also totally agree with you:

F ugly and I would add this: ( F ugly ) at the power of at least the Avogadro's number!!! :D

OTOH what a masterpiece in terms of: dullness, lustreless and spiritless...

To me the NSX looks most like a Dauer962 and many of the Group C Le Mans style cars. For Honda/Acura to stray from this pattern for du jour styling kinda betrays the spirit of this automobile. The reason I chose an NSX was primarily that everything about it marched to a different drummer. Everyone's got a 911 or a retro-techno yesterday/tommorow machine like my brother's 350Z...I didn't think fitting in fit the NSX image...

These images are very similar to the ones show on Mag-X several months ago. Either a copy or additional info is leaking out. Comments on the styling: Belt line is higher than current, proportions are off. Car is too high. Tail lights need to be longer and get rid of the round tail light section, looks like Z4 lights. Wheels are ugly and what is going on with the top of the rear fenders. Are those intakes, aero panels, or some cutouts for convertible?

Proportions wise, looks like transverse mount engine. Overall, styling is so-so, not the stunning good looks of the original design. Too bad. I wonder if Pinnafarina was involved in this design, like the original NSX.

The 02s design was butchered up by the Japanese stylist and they ruined its clean looks. IMO, most minor reface of existing designs are worse than the original.
