2004 NSX or 2008 c6 zo6. Which one would you choose?

Does this really need saying? No, I hope not. Yet, comes up over and over and over again on this forum:

1. Buy the car that you want.
2. NSX will not get you laid, unfortunately
3. NSX will not win any *single* category of new sportscar performance. But it will probably win them all in aggregate.

If in doubt, see #1. Buy what you want. The NSX is a unique, niche car -- are you a unique, niche person??

Personally, I think the ZO6 is a great car, great bang for the buck. Even the new C6 seems like a great Car for the $$$.

That being said - there is more to a car than "DESTROY" Car A vs Car B.

Very true. It all depends on what you want. The NSX is a pretty hard car to beat.

As for your comment "I love the fact you said "DESTROY"...such a corvette guy response " You obviously don't know me at all. Have you ever even driven either car?

Let me just say this...the Z06 is faster than a Ferrari 360 spider by a couple of car lengths and when the Z06 jumps the light by a 1/4 second. I saw this with my own eyes that were going

When all was done and said the Ferrari owner asked the Z06 owner if he wanted to trade even up. When the Z06 owner said yes very quickly the Ferrari owner said   did the finger point shaped like a gun including the click of the thumb.... and drove off.

You know, compared to a Ferrari, at the end of the day you are still just driving a corvette. They are nice, but they just aren't all that special.

I would take a ferrari 360 or 430 over a corvette in a millisecond. Of course, I would take one over a NSX in the same amount of time. Not many here wouldn't.

Neither, both are going to lose half of their value in like 2-3 years..

That would be the time to ask that question.

Now, if they were given to me, I would pick the drivers car

Ive never driven a new Z06 but all the magazine's and stats Ive seen say its a scary fast car! 11/12 second 1/4 mile car and 0-60 times so fast you probably can lose your license in under 5 seconds. The 05 NSX is a cool daily driver, but a powerhouse it's not. Its funny how an 05 NSX is worth more than an 07 Z06:eek:

The list on the NSX was significantly more than that of the Z06, that being said the depreciation from list is probably greater on the NSX right now, 5 years from now, I don't think so!!

Hmm.. MSRP NSX 89K MSRP 07 Z06 72K. Wonder why that would be? You know better than that.

The Z06 seem to be holding their value pretty well for an american car. In fact, the Vette (c6) made the list of Top 10 cars that hold their vaule best. It was the only american car.

I think the real question needs to be 05 NSX or 09 GT-R. Japanese v. Japanese. MRSP on the GT-R is still al ot less than the 05 NSX.

MSRP was $89k but factor in the rebate of $7500 that everyone and their Grandmother knew about. How about lease payment vs lease payment. NSX had the special of $799 + tax with $4500 down.

I would think the body style change, when it comes, will kill the resale value on the vette.
I just sold my SL55 because Mercedes is getting ready to change the body style on the SL and that will KILL the resale of the SL. It really is too bad the resale values on the Mercedes don't hold up because I really like the AMG cars. I would love to buy the new S65 but I am not willing to take a 100k hit in 18 months. I am thinking of buying a 06 S65 or S55 for a travel car. Fact is though the AMG cars are not a car to own out of warranty. One repair bill and it may blow the bank. I had to have the rear struts replaced in my SL55 and that bill if not under warranty would have been 8k.

Correct me if I am wrong, but depreciation is calculated off MSRP, not what people actually pay for the cars. The Z06 in many cases was going for well over MSRP. (just like the NSX did when it first came out)

We are not comparing lease payments. A $799 lease on a NSX sounds more like a cry for help to move inventory -- which it did and I know I considered it myself.

Are you sure? I think they were just doing a refresh like they did on the E-series. The Black Series SL still hasn't come out yet and it is based on the current SL design.

So let me tell you how crazy fast the c6 z06 is , A guy goes to a Chevy dealership buys a new stock z06 for around 65-70k. Then he goes to a tire shop and install drag radials (slicks) goes to the track in a brand new stock z06 and runs 10.8x @ 129.xx now doesn't that just sound crazy fast?

Actually...yea;
I have owned 5 different NSX's - currently own an '02 and '94.

I have driven many different corvettes over the years including the C5 zo6, the new C6 and the new Z06.
This year I seriously considered buying the new ZO6...but.....just couldn't bring myself to "pull the trigger".
I'm just too attached to the NSX and IMHO think it's one of the best cars ever made.
I've attached a pic of my '94 so you know I'm not FOS. My '02 is in storage and unfort. I do not have a pic of it on my pc however, here is an old post from me in my '02 http://www.nsxprime.com/forums/showthread.php?t=53056

Cool. Very nice.

For years I have dreamed of owning an NSX. I plan to purchase a replacement for my 91 TT 300ZX in a year or 2. I must admit I have been tempted by the C6. I like the looks, amenities, performance, etc. And the fact that I could probably find a much newer (about 10 years) C6 (not Z06) within a few miles of my home fairly quickly. However, I'm still leaning toward the NSX mostly because of its exclusivity. I really like the idea of having something very few have. I also like the more exotic look, lower roofline, reliability, and mid-engine layout of the X. I have not driven either, so I cannot comment on that yet. As far as the Vette being faster, I actually think that could be a minus for me. In an NSX, I feel I would not be tempted to take on those inevitable street challengers (as I have on occasion in the past in my ZX). I would be perfectly content cruising along in my rare machine and totally ignoring their attempts.

LOL!

P.S. Steveny, I like your avatar. Wasn't that the basis of an aeronautical brain teaser?

I found the picture on the net while looking for a video of an RC plane trying to take off on a treadmill. I figured with all the hye someone would have tried it by now.
