2004 NSX or 2008 c6 zo6. Which one would you choose?

Sad thing is, probably 2/3rds of those vette owners know very little about the NSX. While the new Z06 is definately fun to drive and probably the best vette yet, what will it's value be in lets say 16 years?

So many un-informed folks on all sides of the car world....I was active on that forum for 4 years or so and no matter what car you choose to pit against the vette...hands down the vette wins and a lot of smack gets thrown around with NO BASIS on the other car in the poll. I hope that you were not offended by the posts that were put up....I mean first off lets face it, it was posted in C5 general.....C5's can be had for in the high teens which make them accessable to a much younger crowd than seen on this forum and with that often comes mis-information and immaturity. I sold my 02 vette for this '03, old, not made any longer, under powered car with fit and finish problems and is hard to service to boot, and have NEVER looked back!

BTW...notice that not one post reflected just how AWESOME the NSX looks by comparison to the Z....ho-hum

Different strokes for different folks. I happen to like the Z06...I think it would be cool to own one, but only if I had a bunch of other cars first. I'm just not a Vette guy...

There's more to a driving experience than magazine #'s...and isn't it more fun to be the underdog? Gives me a reason to keeping modding my car! It sure would be a lot easier to just go out and buy a Z06 and go chase 911's..but why would I want to do that? What do I gain by having a faster car? What am I missing in my life that I need to feel like my car is the fastest? If you like the look of the vette, the way it drives and it truly makes you happy to own it, go buy one! Don't try to convince anyone who buys a more expensive 911 or a slower NSX that their car isn't as good.

I had a guy with an SRT-8 Magnum (I think) asking me all these questions about my NSX at the last car meet I went to. He said he really liked the NSX, but couldn't get over how little HP there was...then he almost fell over when I told him how much it costs to go FI. He couldn't wrap his head around why someone would bother, when he could drop a couple thousand into his car and run 12's all day long.

So, there ya have it...that's why we have so many different car makers, to feed the individualism that is human.

Ya know I got the chance to drive a new Z06 and yes it feels like 500hp, "BUT" setting at redlights it did not recieve one glance from other drivers.:frown:

I was looking at '02 C5s when I bought my 91. Both cars were similar priced. The vette had more HP, but I chose the NSX because of how rare the car is and the depreciation is much less than the vette. I also noticed that the vettes had the same radio I had when I owned a GM truck in the mid 90s. The interior is so boring and plastic looking.

I think the same logic would apply in this poll...I choose the '04 NSX.

My brother is a co-founder and member of the world's largest Corvette club. At one time, he hated Japanese cars...

When I let him drive my stock 2000 NSX... he was momentarily speechless. I still remember the first words out of his mouth after his first test drive... "If I hadn't ever driven one, I would have never known how good of a car the Japanese could build."

He continued the accolades... "Easier to drive.", "Better road feel.", "Better fit and finish.", "Better handling.", "Better materials.", "Just as fast as a modern Corvette.", "Just looking at it, you can tell it wasn't manufactured by 'The General'.", "Quieter and more luxurious.", "I've never heard such a sweet sounding engine when accelerating."...

I visit him 2-3 times a year and he always asks, "Are you bringing the NSX?", because he loves it.

Most of those folks on the Corvette forum do not know much about the NSX... I don't expect them to. They also don't know much about the 2008 C6 Z06... I don't blame them for their ignorance.

Just yesterday, I talked to a friend who loves Corvettes and owns a C5. He said that he recently changed his mind and he is NOT going to get the new Z06 because it's too rough... he's getting a new C6 convertible instead.

.

I've never seen a Corvette's book/trunk, but wtf are they talking about the NSX having no space for luggage? Sounds like some of them need to stick to a nice minivan. The whole point of the boot in the NSX was that it was designed for Yanks to fit their golf clubs in

An opinion is like an a@@hole, everybody has one! It really depends on who you ask. The NSX is for me because it is unique. Yes the Corvette may be faster, but the NSX will go as fast as the law allows. They keep quoting all of this available bhp which is good but, so what? Everyone quoting 10's ,11's and 12's for the Corvette seem like they run Road Atlanta everyday!

I love the fact that the NSX was a true test from Japan to see if they could build a performance car of this caliber. Honda did it because they wanted to see what they were capable of. They did make other supercars take notice that a high performance car could be made for a daily driver, not wound up so tight that it would have to be a garage queen for the average person.

I love the fact that every time without fail when I get gas someone ask me, "what type of car is that?" Very unique and with a timeless styling. The Corvette is nice but just think the NSX went almost untouched for 16 years, the Corvette has had its highs and lows with styling, performance and durablitity. I remember a friend's Dad of mine in high school had one and I thought then that it was funny that the emergency brake was on the left side of the driver. How the heck are you suppose to get out of the car if you are parked, especially on a hill?

The Corvette has been an American Icon for years and will continue to be one ,not trying to take that away. Its just that there are so many of them and without being a diehard fan it is hard to tell a '99 vs a '08. Yeah I could walk in the dealership and purchase a base C6 or a ZO6 and the common person would think they are the same, minus the $20+K difference.

Long live the NSX!!

Why not own both as some people here do.....I dont know why it has to come down to one or the other in these polls..if you like it, buy it.

I don't know, maybe some of us can't afford both..? But that would be ideal thing to do... I would have waited some years in the NSX and spent the saved Corvette money to go second-hand Ferrari F430 though... Best of both worlds...

NSX, of course, but that is not saying that I don't like the C6 Z06. I think it's a great looking car w/ awesome power. I don't know what it is about the Z06. I see regular C6s on the road and don't even notice, but the Z06 always catches my eye when it drives by. I just like the way that car looks. Is the Z06 body wider than the C6? There has to be something that makes me notice, just can't put my finger on it???

It's a ludicrous poll. You can't compare the two cars. To me, the main reason for a sports car is performance. A C6Z will kill an NSX in every performance category. Looks, quality, interior and reliability are all nice factors but in my mind they are secondary.

For once I'd like to see a comparo of a standard C6 to NSX. That is something to debate.

No contest.

In 5 years, the NSX will still be a supercar that turns heads.
In 5 years the C6 Z06 will be that old corvette that you can pickup at carmax for $30,000

In 10 years, the NSX will be on classic car auctions. Low mileage examples will fetch what they cost new, or more.
In 10 years the C6 Z06 will be something highschool kids buy to 'fix up'.

Jond has it...hands down! I have owned a vette, and I remember that each new vette was the cat's meow and was the "new super machine" that Chevy had put out...ho hum... The NSX is exotic and it is unique..and thats the great difference between the Vette lover and the NSX or Ferrari/Lamborghini lover - GROUP DYNAMICS!! You either follow the crowd - or you go out into the wilderness as an individual - I am sure in places like Dubai, the Lamborghini and Ferrari crowd would make up the Group Mentality...but not so in Canada and United States...I applaud Chevy for their amazing machine...but I see vettes everywhere...and to be frank and honest...I am ALWAYS impressed when I see vettes from the 50's - to me, they are absolutely beautiful pieces of art - the rest can all race as fast as possible away from me, because I could give a flying - rats butt about them...their a dime a dozen...newer mustangs have the same affect on me.

God's speed all - and Season's Greetings

Dam:cool:

c6 z06 gets my attention when I see them pass by but NSX will get more of my attention with "awe" factor when I see them.
I have to admit that Z06 is a great car.

NSX, of course, but that is not saying that I don't like the C6 Z06. I think it's a great looking car w/ awesome power. I don't know what it is about the Z06. Yes. The Z06 body looks WAY better than the standard C6...personally I think the standard C6 looks like ass, where as the c6 Z06 is just plain amazing stock.

As far as the outside goes, the Z06 version got wider fenders front and rear fenders. They also got a scoop on the nose of the hood, as well as a scoop on both sides on the rear fenders. Z06 badges are on the front fenders. The spoiler and third brake light is also different along with the wheels and brakes. It also might be a tad bit lower, but I could be wrong about that one.

I only know all of this b/c I thought about getting a c6 z06 or a viper as a great second car project...until I saw what 02 NSX's looked like and got to drive one. The NSX may not be as fast out of the box, but I never keep my car's stock or even near it anyways. The horsepower of a car can ALWAYS be increased. And a damn dead sexy car makes one hell of a canvas to start off with.

NSX gets my vote in EVERY department...just a little slow, but like I said, that be changed with time and money and it's such a great base to start off with.

My Red 93 still turns lots of heads on the road. Yes, even from Corvette owners.
I agree, I know like the interior of the C5/C6/Z06. Still looks cheap and plain with lots of plastics.

I've driven a C6 and Shelby Mustang 07. Lots of raw power, but did not like the way the car handled. Could not feel the road and it didn't feel safe going that fast.

Can I say 2009/2010 Nissan R35 GT-R... Then that will change alot of peoples perspective...

Vette Z06 LZ3: $76,720

Nissan GT-R R35: ~$74,900 Base. No Options except MAYBE Nav & Upgraded Leather/Alacantra.
