I just received a phone call from Hoehn Motors in Carlsbad. They told me to come in and see a brand new 2002 NSX in their showroom. I will not be able to drop in till wed. I hope someone else can stop in and give us an update on how the 2002 looks in person.
Stopped by briefly today and peered through the windows (it being New Years, the dealership is closed).
I like it, though I'd also like a closer look. The color is either grey or silver (hard to say -- it was dark ). It's still very much an NSX to me, and still looks very exotic (I'm not one of those who thinks the general design is 'aging').
I'll probably stop by again in the next couple of days to get a closer look and maybe a brochure if they have one.
I saw the 2002 NSX earlier tonight at Hoehn Acura. The sales lady said the color was silverstone metallic (silver/gray). She also mentioned that they were allocated only this one NSX to sell for model year 2002.
If I had to choose between the old and new style, there's no doubt that I'd choose the old style. It's the new front that bothers me so much. As beautiful as the redesigned lights may be by themselves, they don't seem to belong on the NSX. I disliked the front bumper the most. The corners are shaped to make the car more square and the bottom portion made the car look like a droopy faced fish.
Most of the other exterior changes were not my preference but weren't ugly.
The only exterior change that I liked over the old was that there is an Acura logo on the outside of the rear tail lens instead of the word 'ACURA' on the inside.
I guess I'll just have to let this new style grow on me (like the new Viper).
One feature I like about the 02 NSX is that no matter what color you choose you can choose matching leather. Example, blue ext/blue int. I really want to see Orange/Orange and silver/silver.
Also if you goto www.acura.com you can download some really cool wallpapers of the new NSX.

As I understand it, the Coupes are special order because there is very little demand for them, and dealers are hesitant to floor plan a car that may sit for six months before it sells. See, we Americans are a vain lot, and we like to take the top off of our cars so the wind can blow through the hair. If I'm not mistaken, the T was originally designed in an attempt to spur sagging sales in the U.S. -- supposedly a major market for the NSX. BTW, no offense intended toward the Coupe or the T, I just traded my T for a new Coupe.
In previous years, Acura's NSX website showed specs for the coupe as well as the NSX-T. They also showed specs for the manual transmission as well as the SportShift (automatic).
The new website shows only specs for the six-speed NSX-T. Is it possible that the coupe AND the automatic are no longer available?
Gee, I thought I was the only one that noticed that the Coupe is not mentioned on the updated site. I wonder if the new brochure is likewise devoid of info on the Coupe? I can't see how the Coupe would be unavailable (by special order) in the U.S., so long as it was being produced for other buyers internationally. If the Coupe is indeed unavailable, I going straight home to give my Coupe a fresh coat of wax. Hmmmm. . . .
If you do a comparison of a 01 and 02. The automatic shows up as an accessory. It also gives the weight of an automatic versus a manual. My guess is there will still be an automatic option. It seems the 02 is approx 90lbs more than than the 01.
It's such a small number that it could come from anywhere, e.g. this body panel weighs x ounces more, each wheel weighs y ounces less, etc. They obviously removed the motors to raise the headlights and the switchgear to control them.

Guess that pretty much limits me to the 91-94s. I really hope to buy one in the next year or two, but there's no way I could afford to buy a special ordered coupe. I hate targas/convertibles. I guess I'm an oddball. I would never take the top off.
