I am looking for the ultimate stock performer, which is:

3.2L engine
6 speed manual transmission
Coupe style, no T roof

If you have that exact combination of no T roof with the new front end styling, I'll pay a premium for it.

I've read in Brian Long's book and have searched on Acura's website that starting in 2002 only T-roof is offered, and that's the same year the front end styling was revised, so maybe such a combination does not exist. Is 2001 the last year with no T-roof? But 2001 has the old front end styling.

No coupes for 02+, and yes - 02 is the year of the new front end. You can do an 02 conversion on a 97+ coupe. Or, you can transform an 02+ T into a coupe.

Yes, there are a handful of 2000 coupes out there, but you could broaden the marketplace by including any coupes from 97+.

You may wish to consider the 1997 Alex Zanardi Edition which is by nature coupe. Limitation is the color - red. Other 3.2L coupes are somewhat rare. Good luck!

Cheers,

I agree. I think you mean 1999 though.

Thank you very much for the feedback.

I've read up more on the year to year changes, and taking into consideration what others have written in their replies, I think the following would be my preferred setup, given my emphasis on reliability due to simplicity, light weight, and ease of mods due to simplicity again:

1994 with manual steering, stock 7 spoke wheels, last year with no DBW throttle, and an absolutely straight chassis without a compromised suspension.

I read that the T roof version came with softer shock absorbers. Since I plan to return the suspension to stock form, in that I trust the expertise of Honda engineers more than my own seat of the pants feel (at least at this piont in my driving experience), I definitely want a car that was set up for aggressive driving right from the factory instead of tuning it to that state by starting with a much more softly sprung car.

And, if you don't mind me asking a sensitive question: how reliable are the SOS rebuilt engines? There are many, many subtleties in engine design and construction, and while it may be true that certain tolerances can be held much tighter on a hand-built engine, many other aspects of the engine reconstruction may not be done as well compared to a factory built engine due to lack of special tools.
