I decided to follow up on the ebay ad for the 2000 red/tan auto for $16,000.

A Dr. Tristan Mitras from Greece has been emailing me and says that he will deliver the car for the agreed price.

I have the vin #JH4NAZ161YT000017 if anyone would care to carfax it for me. Otherwise I will do it myself later this PM.

I am very suspicious to say the least. He even gave me his address and cel # in Greece. Car is located state side. He is willing to sell it through ebay with a 90% guarantee. He wants a 3200.00 deposit to go forward. That would be a 320.00 loss if I were to proceed and find out this was a ripoff.

I hate things that are to good to be true. This guy seems real and has answered all of my questions. I am going to buy an NSX and am prepared to spend 30K just not sure this is the right car for me.

Did anyone else contact this guy?

Any advise??

Thanks

BW

If you go forward with this joker, I promise you one thing - you'll be out $3200. Who cares if a scamster promises you a 90% guarantee? He is scamming you, after all, so his words mean nothing. He has probably hijacked this auction and will disappear into the ether as soon as you send him your deposit.

BTW, if you are suspicious of deals that sound too good to be true, why are you wasting any mental energy on a 2000 NSX for $16k? Doesn't that sound "too good to be true"?

You should just report this to Ebay and forget about it. Or, I'll make you a deal....send me $2500, I'll blow you off and steal your money, and you'll save $700 on the transaction.

Thats not even in the same category as "too good to be true". I wouldnt even waste my time, honestly. There are no 16,000.00 NSX's out there, any year, that are even in not-so-great shape. If you give us a link to the auction, im sure someone here is talented enough to expose this guy.

Good rules of thumb for me:

1. No phone number, no deal, period, end of story, no questions
2. Out of country but selling a car IN the USA = BS
3. "Send a deposit via wire, and we'll ship you the car... if you don't like it, we'll ship it back overseas and refund you your money" is as lame as it sounds.

Good luck

Carfax does not have records for cars that are outside of the US. He can be shipping you a HOnda Civic..

OK,OK,OK... I hear you loud and clear. Drop the subject now before I get any more embarrassed...
Dont be embarrassed by that man. Just a part of the learning process. Now as for that porno link you put for your home page, thats something to blush over. I'd remove it :)

ebay scam

Classic new ebay scam....I bet the guy had a great sellers rating of 50+ . But i fyou check it is all for little dinky $5 dollar objects he was selling or buying. I occasionally write to tehse guys as if i am interested to see what new scams there are....Like the guy who was going to sell me a 19000 70 inch plasma for 2000 (from europe....HE would even split the shipping costs with me...nice guy....
Be careful out there...
BTW....you migtht want to consider losing the homepage link on your profile...."mature-bear"..eeeuuuughhh!!!

Thanks for the heads up on the homepage. When I entered my profile I did not enter a homepage and now that I went back I saw this mature bear reference. I deleted it and closed my profile. When I opened it up to recheck, there was another mystery homepage auto entered. Strange. If anyone else has a similar problem you need to enter a specific web address. I entered our junior ski racing scholarship foundation. Much more appropriate, don't you think. Now on with the hunt for the correct and properly price nsx.
