Anyone have this problem????

Ever since I bought the car I get the occasional, "hard to start when warm" problem. I would say 3 out of 10 starts-when-warm, I will have to crank the car for about 5 seconds for it to fire up. Other times she turns right over. Anyone else with this prob.

Could it possibly be tied to a cylinder position sensor?? About a month ago I posted a thread regarding a check engine light problem in my car for this sensor. I took the connector apart and squeezed dielectric grease into it. After resetting the light, it never came on again. Well, as of yesterday.....it's back:confused: As a note while the check engine light was off for the past month the starting problem WAS still there.

So basically I have 2 problems (none affecting drivability, car runs great)

1) hard to start when warm
2) check engine light due to cylinder position sensor

Car is a 1998 6spd.

I have seen this in the past as well. Try turning the key to "on" first and waiting until the fuel pump sound stops (~2 seconds). Then try starting it.

I havent seen it happen in 6+ months using this method.

OK, I'll try it

Hard to start with my NSX: yes. However, 5 second starts and check-engine light come on: no.

Open the timing belt cover and check the crank/cyl sensor. It might be melted. I had the same problem and after replacing the sensor the problem gone.
