Hi Eveybody, Finally installed the 1st Canadian Lovefab Turbo system
figured I shoud post on the details,
I have been very busy lately, its also Stampede week in Cowtown, but thought it was time to post some info on my New project, as most of you know I purchased Stacy's NSX with a few mods to finish.
I had Cody from Lovefab Turbo fly in from Michigan and help me install the Lovefab Turbo system for the Canada day long weekened, thats what I have been up to.
Well let me start by saying, that there was some organization involved on my behalf, but it worked out very nicely.
Cody flew in and stayed with me for the long weekend (Canada Day) and a day, we towed my car to my friends shop on the flatdeck from Calgary tow masters, and a great guy named Mike Hammer loaded the car as I was very worried it was so low thay would scratch something, well he was awesome took aroung 30 mins and the car was safe for the trip, after the unload at the shop we had to put the car on 2 - 2x6 blocks each tire before the hoist could go under the frame, car was Low Stacy :)
well finally she was up on the hoist and we started to work on the car.We went hard on our own hours as we had the shop from fri-monday, well after hours of work and not much sleep for me anyhow, Sunday Canada day around 8pm we fired my car up for the first time with the Lovefab turbo on it(Happy Canada Day for me), and it fired after maybe 1 turn, I was happy to hear the car run, she was purring.
The next day Monday we had plans to street tune the car, so away we went Cody had his laptop hooked to my AEM computer, and I followed his instructions as what to do, and we were off tuning. The car felt allright, it has a New RPS clutch that I am so not used to, I must have smelled the clutch at least 15 times that day, even today its still a hard clutch to get used to, i will admit it launches awesome but after 1 week driving I have a very small low rpm vibration in reverse and 1st gear, maybe the new HP is a factor on the driveline not sure, but its a stiff clutch and hard to find the sweet spot, I am now better after 500 miles on the car hehe, but still tricky and not recomended for rush hour or daily driver in my opinion.
We did many pulls in 2nd and 3rd gear a few in 4th this day also, it felt so great to actually drive this car for the first time, I was finally happy.
Hard to buy a car that you can not drive, hopeing everything is allright.Well we tuned for a few hours and hit some scenery and highway, I wanted to take Cody to Banff for a cruise but the speeds on the pulls we were doing would have gotten me tickets :) so we went elsewhere, everything was going good and I had 1 last day to pull off and that was the Dyno to see the area of HP we were at with what boost we were running. I scheduled the Dyno for 2 hrs,on tuesday as the holiday was monday and nothing was open.
Our first Dyno pull was 411rwhp I believe and we were running 8psi boost or so on the street, Cody played around a little and upped the boost and I think the second pulll was @ 451 rwhp, did another pull and got 479 rwhp I believe @ 10psi and we were happy with that, do not need overkill may lead to problems, just for kicks we upped the boost to 12psi I believe and did 1 last pull and ended up with 509.7rwhp, I was like shocked, specially because I am 3600 feet above sea level.
After all this testing we put the boost back to 10psi I believe where its at now approx 450rwhp I would say due to Dyno testing, many say different dynos pull different numbers, so I took -30 rwhp to compensate.
That was a cool project and everything worked out very well, timing was good as we stayed on schedule all weekend. It was very fun for me to help Cody install the system, He even messed his shoulder up 3 days before coming, and still made the trip, tough guy like a hockey player :) Thanks so much for still making the trip.
I have been driving my X for a week or so now as much as I can, and all I can say is WOW this thing is awesome, the guy helping us at the Dyno was amazed he said he has no seen that much power on that machine in 3 years he has been running it.We questioned other cars like corvette and z06 he said a z06 with a supercharger only produced 480 to 530 rwhp max, so thats pretty amazing power from a 6 cyl NSX in my eyes.
Also I did not know the X has 6 bolt mains, something I learned over the weekend.
So basically I now have a complete car with a few small things I need to adjust that is normal, I got my Out of Province inspection 2 days and now I am totally good to go.
Its quite a accomplishment and a great feeling when things work out.
I would like to thank some people that made this dream come true for me, starting with Stacy'sNSX, thanks bud for being so imformative and honest with me, I do not think I could have bought a car from a better guy, and all the things you did to the car and for this community is truely amazing.
Stacy and I have been keeping in contact even up to today,I have been letting him know how things are going with my new project, he has answered many questions and has been very helpfull to me.
A Big thanks to Cody for coming to Calgary and helping me install this Turbo that Stacy purchased, he was originally booked for Vancouver mid July, and well with the car deal we all worked out a plan and it happened Cody bumped me up to 3 weeks after my car purchase.I spoke with him a few times and booked him a flight, everything was shipped out and he arrived 1 hour late due to plane delays.
We worked together and even with a sore shoulder Cody was trying to wrench as much as possible, Cody knows alot about the NSX, I learned so much in such little time, haveing the car on the hoist was nice as I could understand it alot more.
I can not say enough about Stacy and Cody, so much thanks for making this happen for me, both of you made this go-fast-crack-pipe happen and yes now I am addicted hehe, also I made 2 great friends setting the car aside.
I have to also thank a few of my close friends Dean and Shawn, Dean got me the 3 bay shop for the long weekend and helped me endlessly all weekend, as well as shawn putting in some good hours too helping me alot, I had to drive around for a few things and was away for some hours and I got back and alot of work was done on the car,
Thank you so much for making this project a success, I would reccomend anyone wanting to have some real horsepower to contact Cody @ Lovefab turbo, and now SOS I believe is doing them also, its a nice system tucked up there very nicely.
I have some pictures and some edited clips of video to post, as some of u were asking.
The sound and power is so amazing, specially when the turbo kicks in, yet at low rpm it can still drive like a honda.

Thanks guys you are awesome people.

1 more thing some people should know, my motor is fresh from SOS, it is not a stock motor, it was built for forced induction.I have 1200 miles on new motor, Thought I should mention that.
heres some paperwork of the dyno too.
Edited I tried to upload 2 .jpg's of the dyno but there not showing, will try again later on.

Brent,

Thanks for having me up there, it was my pleasure!

The installation and tuning could not have gone smoother. We had a complete day of idle time because we finished ahead of schedule. "Easy job brother!" (inside joke  )

To clarify information, the short-block is factory-spec except for low compression pistons - stock rods, 3.0 block, all assembled by SOS.

We could have made more power but due to the fact that Brent hasn't driven a stick in a few years, throwing more power at it just seemed "unwise" at this point in the game.

Enjoy the car Brent!

Welcome to the club ! Glad to hear everything went smooth.BTW you will always have a ear to ear grin when you drive your car under boost.
Who is the funny looking dude in the passenger seat ?

Is this on the SOS stage 1 build?

Yes it was basically a stage 1 build.Chris and the SOS gang were amazing to deal with as well.
Brent, like I said before "GREAT" numbers.I am sooo glad all worked out well.I can only imagine what you went through buying a car without it running !!!
I am going to come visit soon to go for a ride!!!

Cody,if you read this, thanks for making the changes in your travel plans to make this happen for Brent and I,you are a good "Lad" Cody and hope to meet you one day !!
Well Brent have fun but please "Be safe" !!!

Stacy

Nice and great numbers btw!! Im jealous, I think I'm gonna start saving up for the lovefab turbo!!! !!!

Thanks Guys,
yea thay were impressive numbers too, for me to actually see, a totally different car from stock.

Yes under boost I have a shit eating grin I know the feeling, even better when no 1 so far can pull away from me. and I mean no 1 so far.

Stacy I am waiting for u hehe, anytime bud u are welcome here, when u have some free time.U will be taken care of VIP hehe.

I resized the dyno papers on the scanner and will re try to upload, the size was too large apparently before.

Thank for the support, see dyno sheets below.

Very impressive figures but i notice that real power only comes in after 5,000 rpm. It makes me wonder whether the car will feel sluggish and slow below 5,000 rpm. How does the car drive and feel?

See, this is how people get confused and feel that "turbo cars are laggy", they only make power up top.....

he has made more power by 5000, then the car with I/H/E would have made @ 8000.

Using this fact, it stands to reason that the car would feel faster @ 5000, then a second car @ redline, wide open.....This is not what i would call sluggish at all. Oh yeah, then it REALLY GETS FAST...

I would say the car does not feel sluggish at all, a stock NSX feels sluggish to me now, around 4000+ rpm u can feel differene once u hit 5000 it starts to pull very hard, I think if u had turbo at 1500 rpm u would not be able to drive the car properly as it would spin out and sound too loud at low rpm.

I have never driven a turbo car before this, but I did drive a friends NSX with headers. exhaust and intake, and a few more mods and well theres no comparison what so ever, double the HP is a way different feeling.
I now get into any other vehicle and it feels very sluggish after being in my NSX.
All I can say is call Cody and order up the Lovefab, I am sure u will be amazed, Also his system tucks away very nicely, lots of time it must have taken to make that happen.
Theres not alot of options to gain real HP on the NSX, so do your homework, you get what u pay for.

This is kind of funny considering the boost has to be limited through 3rd gear to even be able to get enough traction to get a good launch!

just doing winter R&D for my NSX AWD solution:cool:

ummmmmmmmmmmmm

Why is it that the dyno chart shows in "lbft" 1400??

Maybe i am looking at it wrong??

Anyways you did it right! Motor plus good turbo system...now track it once it's fully broke in and get the 60' on that beast(may need slicks lol)

good work

Swift If I am correct, the ft/lbs are high as the dyno pulls are done in 4th gear, so u would divide by 4 and have the actual ft/lbs, someone can correct me if I am wrong, but thats what I was told.

Dude, I think our big fat tranny is in the way. But if you ever come up with a all wheel drive system for the Nsx, don't forget to post message me Woody.

You went to through so many FI setups I lost count. But I like your spirit by always trying to be one of the first to accomplish something on the Nsx.

Congrats Maximumyield!

Drive responsible with that beast of yours...

I was reading this tread and all I can say is WOW! I was also wonder do u still have stock brakes? also I remember reading before that stacey had large wheels I think 19/20 on the car. Do u still have that setup? If so how does it handle with the large wheels?

thanks jermaine

How's it going thanks for the interest in the setup, I do have stock brakes right now and well I believe I need to upgrade them foresure, thay are getting hot fast.
With the turbo all u do is speed up and slow down it seems, so u tend to use the brakes alot, u are also correct 19/20 wheels, I do have that setup, and well there low and not much tire between the rim and the ground, but I am quite amazed as to how well thay hook up, wheelspin in there sometime but not bad, and very controllable it seems, turning radius on the front is limited as I hit the inner well on a U turn say, but other than that rims look hot and tires hook up very very well for the HP thay are under, lots of traction for such little rubber on the tire I can say.Hope this helps.

Brent
