I would at the very least send a case of beer or such to the first owner Nancyreitze.

Sometimes cars just aren't a fit for people and they get sold. I wouldn't beat up on this guy too much, dealers out there are hungry for more aggressive deals.
 
The original seller rush to sold the car at a relative low price, he got what he wanted but he got less than he can.
Can the new owner gets want he wants? Only the market can determine.
Just for comparison, I missed a 93 GPW with 40k miles sold for $41k only last August. With $47k, I am not too far away from a 97.
