Hello everyone!
As of June 1st I am the proud owner of a 2000 NFR 6-speed. I have wanted an NSX every since I became interested in cars, in fact my first car was a Fiero because it was the closest to an NSX that I could afford when I was 16. I turned 40 this year and decided it was time to take the leap.
The car is a 2000, as noted, and has just under 60k miles. It was wrecked in 2020 when the driver went too fast on an off ramp and spun along an embankment - it damaged a bunch of body panels but only did a small amount of damage to the DS front frame rail. It was totaled out, and bought from salvage auction by owner #2 for his 18-year-old son. They installed a Pride Carbon widebody kit and a few other Pride parts to replace the damaged panels. The car also has KW V3 coilovers and a professionally-installed S2000 dash conversion.
They previous owners made some...questionable modification choices, so the first order of business is going to be to put the car right. It currently doesn't have front turn signals because of the Pride bumper, and the rear LED-conversion tail lights need a lot of attention. That is fine by me though, the car is mechanically in excellent shape and I was able to pick it up for about $25k less than a clean/unwrecked car in the same condition/mileage.
I already have a supercharged S2000, so I am not planning on any power mods in the future, but I will probably put some braces and a set of swaybars on the car, plus I am planning on painting the hood body color, and the wing/mirrors/pillars/roof gloss black. I always loved the cockpit-look of the early cars. I am also going to lose those carbon side scoops, they are a bit much.
Anyway, I am a little intimidated by all of the work ahead of me to make this car mine, but I am happy to be here and to have this dream finally come true! NSXPrime has already proven to be an invaluable resource of knowledge about these cars.
