Alex Zanardi has climbed back behind the wheel of a car for the first time since he lost both his legs.
Zanardi drove himself from Monte Carlo to Imola in a special car that had been adapted for him. He was visiting specialist Dr Claudio Costa, for a check-up on his injuries.
Costa said that Zanardi was recovering well and predicted that the 34-year-old would bounce back.
Costa said: "I found the situation very satisfactory. He always had a sad looking face, but I see the light in his eyes. He will be an example for everybody."
Zanardi suffered the injuries when he crashed at the American Memorial 500 at the Lausitzring just under two months ago.
