Hey guys,

how does Zanardi Spring with stock height shock (Bilstein or Koni @ stock height) compares to Stock Spring w/ Bilstein or koni shock w/ one perch lowered..

What i understand is that Zanardi Spring = 1/2 inch lower, and one perch lowered shock = 3/4 inch

how about over all handling?

please advise. thx

The bilstein shock will not be able to handle Zanardi spring rates. Konis might be a better choice since its adjustable, but an even better choice would be Zanardi shocks.

Koni only has the stock perch setting, so if you want to go one perch lower, the bilsteins are your only choice.

Comparing the two, I would have to go with Bilstein/Koni with stock springs. If you want lower, then go with Bilsteins on the lower perch and stock springs. Bilstein and Konis weren't really designed with the Zanardi springs in mind. If you opt to go the Zanardi route, I suggest getting the shocks and sway bars as well to complete the package.

From another perspective,,I've run the Z-spring Koni yellow combo for over a year now and there has been no percieved degredation in the shocks' performance.I find this combo quite a nice compromise for street/track,the caveat is I like a "sporty" ride. And if you have a targa expect more creeks and groans around the windshield/A-pillar region. The drop is not very noticeable~6/10 inch.

Glad to hear that. I put the complete Z suspension on my '94 about a year ago and have been VERY pleased with the performance. But now competition is getting tighter and I wouldn't mind a little more sporty ride as well. I was thinking of changing the shocks to those Koni's after talking with Scott Hartmann of inTrax Suspension just today. Now I have one more reason to consider the switch.

Thanks,

As per DocJohn's praise I set my car up just like his, Z-springs with Koni adjustables, and comptech bars. I am extremely pleased with it. The handling, and response is much better then stock. The shocks hold up just fine with the Z-springs, and the car sits just a tad lower than stock, barely noticeable. To some that's a negative, as they want a "noticeable" difference in the ride height. Here in NJ however, we have bad roads and need all the clearance we can get. If you look at the November calendar you can actually see that my car doesn't look that much lower. (nice plug for my photo:D...thanks again FuryNSX)
