If you have drag raced your car can you post your best times either 1/8 or 1/4 mile and your mods you have. I'm interested in what kind of times people are getting. Thanks alot

I have a 98 Coupe that bone stock ran a best of 12.87 @ 105 MPH. With Comptech Intake headers and exhaust my best time is 12.96 @ 109 MPH. It appears that I traded off low end torque for high end horsepower. I feel that the best thing I can do to improve my times is to use the Comptech 4.55 Ring & Pinion.

Also, as David pointed out, traction off the line is limited. I find that hard second gear burn outs are necessary to minimize this problem.

I have a 94 with a home-grown 70 shot of NOS and no other mods. My best time was 13.1 @ 110 mph. I kept forgetting to turn off the stupid TCS until my last run. I didn't launch the car as hard as I could have, but I didn't want to break anything or spin the tires. Also, my rear tires are 295/35/18, which hurt my gearing for sure. Smaller rims/tires and a good launch should hopefully put me into the 12's.

Just took my 91 with sc/headers/exhaust/6sp/4.55 R&P/17,18" wheels on street tires to the local drag strips last night.

#'s for the 3 runs:

First run with a 2.1x 60', ran [email protected]
(3k rpm slip at launch, no wheel spin)

Second run with a 2.2x 60'. ran [email protected]
(5k rpm slip, spinning at the light)

Third run with a 2.0x 60'. ran [email protected]
(4k rpm slip, not much spin, take off felt lot better)

Still don't have the launch figured out yet. If I can get better 60' takeoffs, The car should run consistent low 12's.

Wow nice times, what were your 60ft times?

Ive only been drag racing once.. at the NIRA nationals in pomona last year. My best time was 13.3@106mph, with a 2.2 60ft. My best 60ft was 1.9(&!@), and my best mph was 107.

Only engine mods to the car at the time were cat back exhaust, and rm intake. I also had the nsxr gear set, but stock r&p. My car weighed 2950 with me in it after the run (with doorbars bolted in). I also had the road race suspension setup (stiff, and alot of camber in the rear), 18" wheels, and street tires..

My technique for the launch was: dry burnout to clean off the tires, stage, and dump the clutch at 5k rpm. The only problem i had was alot of wheel spin when shifting to second, and i would have to shift to 4th RITE before the finish... or i would hit the rev limiter (which is what i did on the 13.3 run)..

My time is 1:52 in Laguna Seca (not as good driver as I am now)

At thunderhill 2:16 in 3 miles course. 1:24 short course west side (I think it's 1.7 miles)

Going to time Sears Point, next time I'm out there and Laguna again, since I'm a lot better driver now

All times are in street tires.

MY BEST TIMES ARE ON IN TRACK EVENTS, JUST LIKE ANDRIE. I CLOCKED MY SELF ON VIDEO AT SEBRING INTERNATIONAL ON THE 3.8 MILE 17 TURN COARSE AT 2:42. I ONLY CLOCKED A COUPLE OF LAPS, ON THE TAPE, BUT I HAVE ABOUT AN HOUR AND TWENTY MINUTES OF TRACK TIME ON VIDEO. I'M NOT SURE IF I DID ANY BETTER, BECAUSE I HAVEN'T HAD TIME TO GO THROUGH THE TAPE SINCE OUR LAST EVENT.
