Here's your chance to own one of the finest examples of a 3rd-generation Mazda Rx-7. At 2800 lbs, the car is brutally fast and the handling is nearly incomparable. Over $50k has been invested into this car, and no expense has been spared.

Criteria in trades: No autos, stock or modded (so long as professionally done), quality car audio setups and aftermarket wheels are a plus.

Reason for Sale:
I love this car; however, right now, it is just not practical for my current situation in life. It begs to be modded, and I just don’t have the cash to mod it properly. I have done nothing half-ass with this car, and I refuse to start now. I’m a firm believer in doing it right the first time.

Now, just because I have this huge desire to make the car faster, don’t get me wrong, it’s already quite fast. You’ll have no problem with just about any stock car and many modified cars on the road (including Z06s, Carreras, Ferraris, and 03/04 Cobras), but if I do any more modding, it will be a major project as I would be satisfied with no less than 550 whp. At this stage in life (full-time law student), I don’t have the disposable income to both own a waterfront condo and continue to heavily mod this car. Sure, I could just drive it, but I’d rather get something tame and extremely reliable and be able to continue to invest in property for a few more years.

I purchased my FD in June of 2003. Even then, it was in amazing shape. Now, after a full repaint with the body work alone costing over $12,000, I challenge you to find a cleaner example of a modified FD anywhere in the United States. Some day, I will own another FD, but I just feel that the money that I have in this car could be better spent on other things. This sale affords you the opportunity to purchase an FD that has well over $50k invested for nearly half the cost.

My asking price is $29,000. Let me assure you that I do not HAVE to sell this car. My finances are in order, and I am not desperate for money unlike many other who sacrifice their cars for a quick sale; however, I would prefer to invest the money from this sale in property, so I am now looking for a buyer.

The car dynoed at 380 whp @ 14 psi and 425 whp @ 20 psi. The 20 psi pull was done in extremely hot temperatures after 20+ pulls, so I think it actually makes a bit more than that when it is not extremely heatsoaked. I also have a feeling that my particular T66 is a bit restrictive for the higher-RPM power; however, I have not pulled off the turbo to measure the A/R and other such specs. I have never run more than 14 psi on 93 octane fuel. Otherwise, I run 100 octane unleaded fuel on the occasional weekend that I run 20 psi. I have been premixing 1 oz of Mobil 1 2-stroke Full Synthetic per gallon of fuel for 4 months now. I have a functional OMP, but SPOAutos convinced me to premix as well for safety.

The Car:
93 Montego Blue FD with Tan Leather Interior – Approx 140k miles on the body

Engine:
Rebuilt with 3mm seals approximately 15k miles ago. Engine had just been rebuilt when I purchased the car by Scott Glassburn at Mazsport in Largo, FL. The only people who have driven the car are me and Scott. I am extremely meticulous with the maintenance of the car, and it has never gone more than 3k miles without an oil change. Usually, I have it in the shop every 2k miles for general maintenance (check/change plugs, change oil, etc).

Turbo:
I purchased the car with a brand new Turbonetics T66 installed in the car; therefore, the turbo has approximately 15k miles on it as well. Unfortunately, I do not know the specs of the turbo, and I have not been able get in touch with the previous owner who purchased the turbo from Turbonetics to ask him.
