Well, it's my lil' cousin's birthday and he loves Nascar, racing, the works. (I've never seen a smile bigger in my LIFE when him and I go cruising with the top off).

So, I've been looking for what present to get for him. I know that my pops and I used to spend hoursss playing the "trigger actioned" cars on the DIY assembly racetrack courses. So I found a couple that looked great. My favorite one was sold out :( but here are the two that I hope to choose from. (p.s. It is absolutely CRAZY! how much these toys have improved since I had one.. They're like triple the speed with super traction.... ).

Ok, so those of you with lil' sons or daughters or know kids that love racing in this age range, which do you think they would prefer??

ThaNSX* in advance!

Or any that you all have seen and liked..
Thank you so much!!!

There was a set years ago that was just a banked oval and you could change lanes in the straightaways. The cars weren't as fast but to me it was a lot more fun since you could "steer" the cars so it was a little more involved.

I have no idea if they make them anymore, but it seems like a NASCAR fan would love that set.

Sounds familar and does sound fun. (Plus, of course, I'm going to have to "test it out" with him from time to time)

Mermi, here there are 1:32/1:24 scale slot car tracks. It is pretty darn fun and kids absolutely flock to it. They can buy or buy and modify the cars to their fullest or simply buy them and run them as they are.
There are leagues and everything for kids.
It's a great time.
The NASCAR cars cost about 35-45 dollars.
It is how I got my racing kicks when the NSX was down.

I don't know about the toys, but since you are so close to Homestead I bet he would be thrilled if you purchased two tickets to the race at the end of the season. The race is in November so he would look forward to that the rest of the year. Plus it can be used as a bargaining chip to keep him good the rest of the year too:biggrin:

If not the NASCAR race I bet if you found a local track that runs on the weekends and took him to that he would love that too. I know I would:wink:

Either XMODS or a slot car would be great choices. My wife bought me a Scalectrix slot car setup which all ages enjoy, except for my son who is only 1:smile: and the rest of the family have been buying XMODS cars for the future when my son and nephew are older and they may not be available. We even have the track to race the XMOD cars so kinda like RC slot cars.

Yes, this would be the ULTIMATE! , especially since Danika is racing 3/26 but my lil' cuz lives in Virginia :(

ThaNSX Everybody for your Ideas. Really appreciated it!!!!

I just bought a remote controlled nascar from walmart yesterday. It has a lot of hobby grade features and maxed out it reaches 20mph. Its not on the walmart website but I doubled checked and the last two walmarts I went to had them. Try giving them a call to check the availability. You can also get different bodies depending on who you like best. Hope this helps. Oh yeah the car is 1/6 scale and 33" long so its HUGE. You'll definitely get your moneys worth. :]

That would be a nice present IMO to give to a nascar fan.

OR maybe get him an XMODS from radio-shack. LOL, get him the NSX Xmod so he can be like his big cousin!

LOL!!! Got him that for Christmas!!! haha .... He loves it.... but he said to me "it's cool but I'd rather have yours!!" Lol, lil' booger.... Maybe by the time he can drive, I'll be super loaded, and get it for his graduation....

Are there any new NASCAR video games out yet for his pleasure?? Maybe you can get him something in that direction. Maybe a game and a racing wheel. See the other thing is, I know he's family, but how much are you planning on spending? An I.O.U. a lesson in driving stick in my NSX when you have your permit card would be cool too.

  :eek:Don't think I'd want him to 'learn' stick in the NSX . I have let him "shift" from the passenger while I had full control and held the clutch in until I knew FOR SURE it was in gear, He did enjoy that... I was like "okay, get ready, need to do this smooth, go to 2nd , now move it into 3rd, Perfect".... ;) I think he felt like a King. It was so great.
