I did a search and have a specific question. Has anyone here installed their WW lip themself? I recently recieved mine and it is painted. It came without any holes predrilled or mounting hardware. I'm reasonably handy. Should I tackle it myself or take it to bodyshop. Opinions/experience much appreciated.

Hi JimK,

The install should be a breeze. I would suggest doing the job yourself. I did mine (when I had it) and it was really easy. I'm guessing that since there are no holes that the previous owner only used the double sided tape. The tape is pretty strong and I doubt it'll come loose but a screw at each end wouldn't hurt either.

Make sure you put it on straight, especially the part that lines up right under the L/R condenser openings and goes back to the inner fender.

Let me know if you have more specific questions.

my buddy installed his with double sided tape around the top, and self tapping screws at end side in the wheel well, and some extra screws under to be safe.

I would recommend gettting someone to help you if you tackle it yourself. Once the tape makes contact and sets it might not be that easy to get off.

thanks guys, think I'm going to tackle this this weekend. I'm
planning to take the OEM lip off and use it as a template for the lower mounting holes. D'Ecosse and others have recommended removal of the OEM lip.

Don't waste your time mounting it from the bottom. The tape holds very strong on the top parts and the screw in the fender well will make sure it doesn't come off. If you pre-fit it onto your bumper you'll see that it's almost a tight fight and if it was screwed in it won't come off.

Yes, you do not need any of mounting holes from the OEM front lip to install the WW lip. In fact, you could mount it over the OEM lip, but there's no point to this, so just remove it. :)

Here are the instructions from WingsWest:

As you will see, the WW lip is mostly mounted with double sided tape, and only some screws in the wheel well area.

Pick up some 3M Adhesion Promoter to put on the surface where the double sided tape will go. It really helps the tape stick.
