Help! Does anyone know how to remove the windshield wiper arms? (I need to paint them). After the nut comes off I can't remove them. I can't even find wiper arms in the NSX Manual. Must be a secret latch or something I suppose. Thanks

After the nut comes off there is really no mechanical fastener holding the arms on - they are just "stuck". I used a small gear puller (about $8.00 from an auto parts store) and mine came right off of my '91. I also painted mine and they came out really well. Hope this helps!

UPDATE: It wasn't a gear puller, it was a battery terminal puller (typically used for pulling the battery terminals off of the battery post).

Also the wiper arms aren't really "stuck", they are on a splined taper

(Thanks to Michigan MR2 for this updated information)

You don't need any kind of tool.

After you remove the nut, they are "held" down by the spring pressure of the arms, which pushes up on the arm from the wiper blades. All you need to do is to push the whole wiper arm down, so that the arm is relatively flat. This relieves the pressure on the "nut end" of the arm so that you can lift it straight up off the bolt while you are holding the rest of the arm down.

That's right, just push them flat, and the pull them up - they'll come...

Another thing - I got mine powdercoated gloss black, some say it looks better than painting, and it cost around $40 for both. I was really happy with the way it turned out, no spots that bothered me, etc. YMMV, JMHO, etc...

Since I don't drive the NSX in the rain, I just take them both off completely =) I keep one in the trunk , in case of "a rainy day."

And you keep a small socket wrench and a 17 mm socket in the glove compartment.

I go even further. My blades are hanging in my garage when my NSX is on the road. No need for a socket wrench.

I'm the same way. Didn't have them on the last one for 3 years. Daily driver and live in So. FL. Never a problem and plenty of rain. Just took the blades off my new one last night, laid on a nice coat of Rain-X and I'm ready to go. Looks beautiful.

Disconnected that stupid antenna too. That was the best thing I ever did. Should've done it on the last car too but never thought of it. Now I can listen to tapes, CD or stereo without looking like a remote control car.

Have you looked into the Smartenna? That way you don't lose the use of your radio if you want it (I had a custom stereo shop wire a switch that I can control the antenna with before I heard of Smartenna. It works fine but I think Smartenna is a little more elegant).

I had the smartenna on my last NSX for 3 yrs. I listen to tapes often and hated that the antenna stayed up. By the way, I still listen to every radio station as I did before with NO reception problems at all. Maybe being in So. FL where it's so flat helps a lot. I LOVE that I disconnected that stupid useless thing.
