I got the trim piece to put on my car. Removed the door pillars, pulled the old one off. no problem. The new piece had a little piece of plastic on the ends with 2 staples in it. I suppose to keep it from recessing like they all do. I couldnt get them in. I ended up tearing both sides durring install. When I took the staples out of one side it went in easily and locked up. Im not talking about the stiffener. I have to order a new one now, along with the other plastic fastener. Anyone fooled with this staple crap. Im going to remove them next time and just glue it on the ends to keep it from shrinking. Just wanted to know if anyone had the same problem.

Mine is cracked in the center and I noticed during high temps the crack is very thin and you hardly notice it. During the cold temps the crack is at least 1/8" and looks bad. I have contemplated doing this. Can you give me the part number for this. Sorry I couldn,t help, but I appreciate your pain.

I had this issue when I replaced the trim on my NSX windshield a few years ago. The stapled pieces on the windshield trim were Honda's fix the trim shrinking issue. The tabs help keep the trim from pulling inward b/c they catch on a molded part in the fastener.

You can remove the stapled pieces and the trim will just pop in. The only issue is that you risk the trim shrinking again. Some consider the trim a maintenance piece and replace it every year or two when it shrinks. I think it costs around $40.

Be sure to lube the trim w/ car wash soap to ease installation.
