Windows Media Player question

I have about 1500 songs on my computer that I play through Windows Media Player. The only gripe I have is that when I listen to songs on shuffle, it doesn't shuffle very well. I usually listen to the same songs a few times in the same day. I would think that with 1500 songs to choose from, the chances of hearing the same song twice in a day would be pretty rare. Is there a setting I'm not aware of to stop this from happening? I know iTunes has a setting for this. Does Media Player?

Why not just use iTunes? It's the best music player in my opinion. Besides, I don't want Microsoft monitoring my listening habits.

I would if I could. But this is on my work computer and I can't add iTunes to it without an administrator sign on. How does Microsoft monitor what I listen to?

Winamp or XMPlay

WMP uploads player utilization info to MS servers.
That's true - by default it does send some information to Microsoft. This can be disabled under Tools > Options > Privacy.

White92, if you can't install iTunes or Winamp, try using XMPlay. It's similar to Winamp in many ways, but is even less bloated. It does not require any installation. Just extract the ZIP file to a folder on your computer (or your USB drive if you really need to stay under IT's radar), then double-click xmplay.exe. I hope this helps.
