I purchase my 1991 NSX form the original owner in July 2003. All service was done at Carrs's Honda(now Libertyville Honda) in Libertyville Illinois. The left side window regulator was replace on July 10 1995 at a cost of$319.29(parts) $96.00(labor). The right side regulator was replaced on July 28 1999 at a cost of $546.30(parts)$148.00(labor) My question is. Do I still need to install window fix thingies?
Thank You
Wswen

From what I have heard that is hard to answer unless you go in and see if they have the updated piece or not. Other NSX owners have told me that they have purchased window regulators that are new, but still have the old style thingie in it. Take off the door panel and check it out for yourself.

I'm pretty sure you have the updated regulators since the problem was discovered in '92. To be sure, you'd have to remove the door panel, pull the plastic water shield away, bring the window up about half way (just reconnect the big brown connector to do this and then disconnect again) and check the regulator through the service hole inside the door frame. If the white plastic part is completely boxed around, it's the updated part and you have nothing to worry about. Replacing the white "thingie" with the Dali one on an updated window regulator is pointless since it's fully supported.

The original design (picture 1) had just a tab at the top and bottom which would weaken and bend putting lots of tension on the white plastic part. It can no longer hold the two wires under tension and lets go. The Dali "thingie" will hold the wires under tension even if the tabs to weaken and bend (picture 2). The last photo is of the updated design. The plastic thingie is completely boxed and fully supported.

Window regs

Thanks very much! I already got two window thingies in hand just in case. I am planning on updating/replacing the door speakers soon. Now I know exactly what to look for.
Thanks again

Once the window has dropped, you will need to buy new regulators, not the fix-it thingies. You can buy regulators from any dealer that sells NSX parts.

Expensive!

I opened the doorpanel today and I was able to unwire the cables and to put them back in place. It took me approx. 4 hours but with the repair thingies it will be fixed now! Without new regulators !!!!! costs: 21 Usd (Dali racing). All it took was a mirror, a flashlight and a lot of swearing
