window glass replacement ??

My passenger-side door window was broken by vandals recently, and I am having my insurance company replace it.

They are quoting something like $1100 for OEM glass, and it has to come from Japan. Is this correct / true ??

Also, they plan to use SAFELITE, a chain of auto glass folks. I've used them before on other cars, but this will be my first time with an unframed-panel window, and also with the NSX.
a) any experience/opinions with these folks -- good/bad/indifferent ?
b) any "gotchas" I need to watch out for, relative to replacing window glass ??

Thanks in advance.

According to the crash repair parts catalog in the FAQ, the door glass assembly lists for $411.10.

There is a window adjustment procedure in the service manual. The glass must be adjusted properly; if it is not, there will be wind noise at high speeds. You might want to print out those pages of the service manual and give them to the glass installer.

They also need to be careful with removing the fasteners when dissembling the door, so that they can be re-used.

Safelite always quotes high. I have quoted them prices over the phone only to hear them tell their customer a price quite a bit higher than MSRP.
