Recently, my 91's windows began to run slower & slower. I've read a number of threads and there was one that listed the times from various owners and mine were way off. Additionally, you could hear that that the driver motor sounded like it was straining. Per the sound recommendation of others on prior posts, I decided to get some of the Honda urea grease and lubricate the windows. While there I figured I'd lubricate the door lock on the passenger side for that seem to be performing very sluggishy as well (hard to unlock w/ a key).

I'm sensitive to pulling such cosmetic pieces such as interior components off so that they don't get scratched. Thus, I decided also to replace the window thingies, door thingies and send the amplifiers off to get them refubished (such as by BrianK) while I had the door panels removed. Basically, take care of anything that could potentially go bad. Also, to note, the prior owner kept pretty good records of service on the car and almost all work was done at Acura dealerships.

After reading the Wiki here on prime, on how to remove the door panels, I managed to get them off and was disappointed to see what was lurking beneath the leather door skins. The plastic liner was secured and patched up with duct tape (a little is acceptable, but this was an amazing amount). It looks like crap. Sure it is out of sight but compared to the way the rest of the car has been kept up, it is simply ghastly. I then peeled off the duct tape/liner mess and saw that the regulators are the NEWER style with the metal completely surrounding the plastic window thingie. Additionally, after removing the speakers, there was a label on one that stated it had been repaired w/ a date.

1) If the window regulators are the newer style and look good, would you still replace the plastic component with Dali window thingie? For reference, the documentation states the regulators were replaced in 2000, if that makes any difference.

2) Although only one speaker had the label stating that it was repaired, I opened both and noticed that both amplifiers were repaired. It seems that multiple capacitors were replaced on both with one having an IC replaced. Have any of you had repaired amplifiers go bad later?

3) Door liner. Would it be worth replacing with a factory replacement (anyone even know of where to find them)? Create a new liner w/ something like Tyvek? Or should I simply add more duct tape and call it quits? I do plan on keeping the car for a very long time and knowing myself, it may eat away at me knowing what lurks behind the door skin. Also, I'm amazed that an Acura dealership would use so much duct tape to fix the liner. I'd guess that they would have just replaced it and passed the cost onto the owner.

Thoughts?

1) You do not have to add the Dali Window Fix-It if it is already boxed in with the metal new window regulator version.

2) Ask BrianK.

3) You can buy new plastic liner at the dealer and buy adhesive from a body shop supply shop. Or you can buy it online at TCPglobal.com

Once I fix the amps they don't re-fail, but I do get ones to redo that other repair shops have done.
