I posted months ago after the Arnold Classic and mentioned that my wife was trying her hand at National level figure shows with the goal of becoming a pro. She did both the Jr USA in South Carolina and most recently the Jr Nationals in Illinois and took 3rd place in both contests. This is quite an accomplishment for her first two shows at this level. The next show will be the Team Universe in New York in August. The top two in each height class get their pro cards. Here are a few pics. She is in the pink suit in the middle and second from left in the group shot. The girl in the middle of the five took 1st and the one to the right took 2nd.

That is impressive. She has some seriuous determination and discpline to be in that kind of shape. I wish her the best of luck and I hope she obtains her goals. You must be a great husband and offer a great support system for her to get that far.
Your wifes traps and rhomboids are sick! I am jealous.

Man you are lucky. In Brunei most women who got married just went round.

I am a fitness model/bodybuilder/trainer here in SOCal man her abs blow the others away, I wish her best of luck!

Nsxcelerate,

She has some of the most incredible abs you'll see on a woman anywhere!! Here are a few pics I took during photoshoots at the Jr Nationals.

Netviper,

In figure you are judged in one and two piece suits, doing 4 quarter turns. They are judged on symmetry, poise, skin tone, suits, etc.. They are penalized for excessive muscularity, vascularity and striations. If you put a figure girl next to a bodybuilder, it will be quite dramatic.

Are most of the girls in the "Figure" Class steroid free?
Or even Silicone-free?

(No offense intended Zman - just attempt at humour)

Zman, you should pose your photo also. Just want to see the guy who married the very fit lady.

I realize that, but still, are the majority of girls steriod free in that class? Obviously they are not Lenda Murry's size, and it looks like those physiques could be attained with very hard work and diet -- which is why I asked the question.

On a side note. I think your wife looks stunning. I wish her the best. Congrats.

Jin1976,

I don't have many pics with me in them because I also seem to be taking them!! We met at a gym 14 years ago and have been married for 11 years. Now that we have two kids- 8 and 9 years old, we train at different times. I have contemplated competing in local shows but have not really felt the need or will to do that. I'll try to find a family pic to post.

Netviper,

I don't think many sports are "steroid-free" these days. But I agree that you can obtain the "figure" look with great gentics, training and diet.

A friend told me that using steroid could bring down your sperm level so no recommended for man who want to have family. Also ahve long term effect on the nervous system he said. May not seen it today but maybe 15 years down the road.

One of my closest friends and workout partner is IFBB Pro Michal Kindred. So I see on a day to day basis what it takes to be a pro bodybuilder. He turned pro recently and has only done two shows. It's a great honor and accomplishment to make it to IFBB Pro - but once you get it there are new hurdles that have to be crossed. My biggest complaint with what I've seen in the sport is the politics associated with judging. I know that some of the "big names" are great body builders - but the politics blurs objectivity in judging and its really frustrating to see in action. I also know Tanji Johnson who is also an IFBB pro - she's slowly been making some headway into the female IFBB pro arena but its been more hardwork then anyone expected. Best of luck to your wife - we should meet up if we're at the same show sometime. Also, consider the Emerald Cup here in Seattle - its a great amatuer show.

SaberX,

I agree with everything you said. The judging is very subjective and political. A "Pro" in bodybuilding is really a joke compared to other sports. For us it is a hobby and a challenge, nothing more. My wife just likes to compete and at 41 years old standing toe to toe with girls in their 20's it's really an accomplishment. She is a little genetic freak who stays lean and hard year round. She does not do cardio or use fat burners to get ready for shows.

We should get together some time. Going to New York for the Team U? How about the Arnold Classic?

Jin1976,

Here is a family picture from Disney a few years ago.
