I am going to be putting new rims and rubber on my nsx.Am I stupid for loving the way wide tires look on the back of a car(eg.viper, corvette, ferrari)?I am looking to put 285/30/18x10's(bridgestone so3's)on the back.Is this crazy to sacrifice a slight decrease in performance(handling) for traction and the beefy look????Any and all opinions please I don't want to regret the wrong move!! Thanks

If you like the look of the 285's then get them. I would've gotten that size if they had it available on the brand that I bought, but they didn't.

I too like the look of the 285, it's your car so do what YOU like to it.

Take some pictures when you've finished installing the new wheels/tires.

btw...what kind did you get?

The 285/30 is wide- but the sidewall are VERY small...you may bend rims easily and not even know...I would stick with the popular 275/35. The choices in the 285/30 are low too.

Richard,Thanks for getting back to me. I'm going to be purchasing Bridgstone
so3's and the rims are going to be high polished HRE 547 series. I will definitely send you some pictures when it is done.I need to get different opinions because some people claim there might be some oversteer with the wide tires. John

Good advice if the roads in your part of NY are anything like Michigan. Oh that we could all have road surfaces like southern Florida!

I've been running 285/30/18's for over 2 years on HRE 547s with no ill effects and they look great. You guys make me feel even more fortunate to live where I do, thanks!

The best advice I can give you is to stay with the OEM tires. Your car will NOT drive the same on anything else.
