Reminds me of some mouse pads on Apples where there is a second stage to pushing through. Ive noticed this for years, but it came up more frequently on the track lately. Is it something with the hybrid system?
Why is there a second "step" in the the gas pedal on these cars?

Is it just a kickdown switch?
I am not aware of a second step. The accelerator is by wire on our cars. Maybe something is amiss with your car?
Seems intentional on mine, but if you arent feeling that, I'll ask at next service I guess... Looks like I am the only one getting this
