Why is NSX "twitchy" at the limit?

Hello,

After another ride in an NSX on a track, now I am back in market again for NSX track toy.

I am trying to do some reserch here before I commit myself to an NSX, but I've read here many times saying that NSX is not very forgiving at the limit. Is that really true? Why would it be, with mid-engine, slow sitting car with double wishbones all around?

I usually take my Miata out to a track, and I love it because it corners so well, and it is very forgiving at the limit. I can overcook a corner and still able to catch it and make it through a corner.

Obvioulsy I never drove an NSX on a track hitting the limit, so I have no clue how it drives on the edge. Some feedback from other drivers would be very appreciated it. Especially if you drove other cars at the limit and compare how well NSX does at the limit.

thanks,
john

In general If a car is "twitchy" I would say its because the driver is doing the twitching!.That said I think the nsx like any mid engine car is somthing you grow into driving fast.Skill and speed are aquired gradualy.I have had fellow instructer level drivers (who drive front engine rear drive cars) hop in my car and proceed to nearly loop it,but thats because they are driving it like thier cars.As an owner you will grow into the car.The skills it takes to keep a mid-engine car on track will become second nature, and its quite fun!In retrospect you'll wonder what all the fuss was about,I think that says it all,its a great track car,as any nsxpo attendee can attest to.

Also the codition described can be very dependent upon aligment spec and tire choice, and these are linked when regarding high speed stability.

I liked the NSX when you drove me around the track.
