I was going to comment on this earlier, but it usually ends up as a logic/engineering vs. paranoia/hearsay arguement.There is no way that any of the agencies that regulate that type of thing would allow a manufacturer to claim a spare tire that is readily removable from the car as a significant portion of the crash structure of the vehicle...nor would any self-respecting engineer do this. It is a wheel, it is not designed to crumple. If anything, it is effectively shortening the impact absorbing distance available between the front bumper and the cabin, and is only there as a convenience on what was marketed as a GT car. The Type Rs do not have long road-trips in mind, ergo no need for a spare.That said, if it lets you sleep at night, by all means, leave it in there...but use that as the reason as opposed to just making stuff up :biggrin:sorry about that :redface:
