A week ago I visited a girlfriend's birthday party. During the evening two other girls needed a ride to the train-station and asked me. I told them that it would be difficult. 'My car is small and I can carry only one passenger.' They said they would manage. Then seeing the car if was like 'O, it is very low.' So, I ended up with two girls sitting on top of each other and my driving them carefully. During the ride one of the girls asks me 'Why didn't you buy a bigger car.' I then told them this car was much more fun for me and they were like 'O, I can see you are single otherwise you wouldn't have bought it.'
This was not the first time someone asks/tells me something like that. I usually don't even bother to explain why the NSX is so much more fun to me than some 'plain Jane' car. My thought is that if someone needs to ask/tell me that they will simply not understand.
Have many of you experienced similar questions ? And if so, what is YOUR response.

1. I would never let more than one passenger ride in my car.

2. I've had two seat cars for over 30 years now.

3. I AM single

MvM,

Congratulations on having two young women in your NSX. Now, I also noticed that these women are more than likely norther European. That is something I would have taken a picture of

.

From what these young ladies said, it does not sound as though they were trying to be rude. It sounds as if they were saying that only a single guy would have a fun two seater because once he gets married, he will have kids and need more room and thus a bigger car etc...

A malicious comment from them might have insinuated that your NSX was a penile extension, a playboy-mobile or a babe magnet. I, however, do not think this was what they were saying.

"Driving them" as opposed to what, riding?

MvM, between this post and another where you raced light to light and got the wink from some young female NSX fans, either:

A. Your timing is impeccable

B. I have to get myself to the Netherlands

C. You have just become my hero

It cracks me up how you post these like there's a problem. Unfortunately it's difficult for an NSX owner to get sympathy or ESPECIALLY in your case, advice!!

GO HOLLAND...!..GO HOLLAND...!...GO HOLLAND!

I would have just looked over at them and with a wink and smirk on my face and said " Humm...i dont know "

MvM,

Let me see....

Married, two children, NSX. I don't think the "single" thing is a good reason

LOL

When I go to NSX events, it's one child at a time.

Gary,

Great to meet you and Gladys this weekend. Thanks for letting me drive your car. It was killer!! When I got home I was explaining the ride to my 14 year old, Brian. I soon as I said NOS, he went off the deep end. At his age the F&F thing is just so intoxicating. I think he is plotting to displace Stephanie and go to NH next year!!

MvM,

I have not experienced that type of question yet, but I have gotten comments, such as the one from my female co-worker "you can tell that you don't have kids!" Implying, of course, that a family man would not be driving a car like the NSX. Frankly, I tire of the "mid-life crisis" description of the typical sports car owner over 35 (if I didn't have my car, that would be a crisis

!)
The fact that I don't have kids is irrelevant--my passion is sports cars, particularly the NSX! I think having kids would add to the experience, because I could raise my kids to appreciate the joys of owning a fine automobile, and its attendant responsibilities (safe driving, maintenance/detailing, automotive maintenance, etc.). Oh well, you can't please everyone....
