Who here has removed/replaced the driving light switch that sits in the console?

I assume that is where the switch goes as I have seen a few cars with this setup (2X2).

Does the current felt tray just pop up and out or will I need to get surgical?

Also, does anyone know if the plug is sitting right there, ready for the switches?

No, there are no pigtails for these switches, therefore both the switch and the lights need a power source and associated connections.

Bram

Thanks, Bram. I understand the front has connectors (pigtails?) pre-installed. I wonder why not in the console? Or better yet, since you are in Canada and these are meant to be for that setup, is your switch elsewhere?

Yes, the pig tails for the fog lights are tucked up under the bumper, these are blue connectors, however, they are not connected to anything on the U.S. spec cars. In order for you to get these to work, you will need to run wires from the front into the cabin, to the fuse box and another set of wires to the switches.
On the Canadian spec cars these blue connectors are wired to a DRL relay unit.

Hope this helps.

Bram

PS, there is a good write-up by Warren on how to make these connection, if you search the forum you find it.

Thanks, Bram. I will do that search. I appreciate the help.

To answer your original question, you need to remove the dash console to install that switch. It does not "pop" out.

Thanks. This may help you in running the wire through to the front. You'll see photo on how I accessed the existing opening. http://www.nsxprime.com/forum/showthread.php/181762-SOS-NA2-ABS-Uprade
The open circuit in the fuse box is actually for the Canadian DRLs. I often wondered if putting a fuse in that circuit and adding a relay to the relay box would power those existing blue plugs up front. I asked Chris from SOS and he says there is some wiring missing in the harness, but I have remained curious.

If you are adventurous, behind the glove box there may be two unused plugs. If they are there then they are intended to go to the Canada DRL control unit. From there, in the Under-Hood Fuse/Relay Box, Fuse location 44 is for the Canada DRLs. I'd be curious to know if you can get 12 volts to the blue plugs by placing a fuse in socket 3 of the fuse panel and 44 in the Relay box.

Thanks again, mcrider. I understand all of what you wrote. I am not sold on the idea of actually working on this anymore ;)

I had the console out tonight and saw where i can unscrew the coin tray and replace with these light switches. If I could make it look clean, I would be more inclined to be all over it. But, I really don't want to run non-OEM wires through the console tunnel, around the SRS, etc. to get where it needs to go. Call me picky. (Ha ha.)

Now, if I could wire up a reverse camera, distance sensors, oil-slick gizmo AND the lights (there are four buttons, no?) then maybe.
