Who can paint my brake calipers?

Because of where I live and where the car is parked, I am unable to do this myself. Do anyone know where I can get my brake calipers painted?

Thanks in advance.

Doug

Doug, does that mean that you can't remove the calipers yourself? It'll be difficult to do the job while they're on the car. The task is really quite easy, and you can turn it into a brake job/rebuild at the same time. If I had more time on my hands I'd tackle it myself for you.

Hay Ken.

Yeah, I am just physically unable to do the job myself. My car is parked below ground with other cars around it. Imagine a public parking facility. That's the parking arrangement in my building. I know it's a pretty simple job, but I just can't do it.

Thanks for your offer by the way.

Doug, if you can do without the car for a couple days and can bring it to Half Moon Bay, I'd be happy to do it for you. Just let me know.

DAM! Thats a nice offer. You know what I dont think I can do mine either.............

Hi Doug,

Do you have your heart set on painting the calipers? Would you consider powder coating? I would recommend that poweder coating as it would hold up alot longer and all you need is soap and water to keep it clean. Obviously, this route is more expensive, but the results in my opinion is far superior to paint.

Let me know if you would like me to get a quote. The quote would include removing the calipers, powdercoating and re-installing the calipers. I think there is a brake caliper repair seal kit that you may want to have done since the calipers are disassembled. Your NSX would be down for several days.

This is just my $.02, there may be others that have other suggestions.

Thanks,

Mike

You should of asked Aaron to do those when he was giving you baby some love.

What color are you going for? I just did mine on the S4 the other day. I did them on the car, didn't feel like taking them off like usual. Came out real nice, just plain black though. If you can not find someone to do them, you can swing by the our house in the concord area and Ill help you out. I will be back up there from work in a week.

sorry to high jack this tread but does anyone know where to source an NSX rebuild kit for from and rear calipers? I can't seem to find one.

I think this is a good question cause I was wondering the same thing. Im going to buy a set of rotors and pads soon for my upcoming HPDE and I figure I should do the caliper rebuild while I'm at it.

I just spoke to a buddy of mine at Serramonte Acura and this what he told me based on 93, 94 and 97 NSX's

1993 - There are no caliper repair kits available for both the front and rear calipers. Although, you can buy the boots and o-rings for the pistons separately.

1994 - There is a caliper repair kit for the front part # 01463SL0-010, but there is no caliper repair kit for the rear.

1997 - The caliper repair kit for the Front - 01463SL0-J01 and for the Rear - 01473SL0-J00

I hope this helps.

ken,

is this the car you sent the tweet about that we could joy ride in?

Hal, you butt head! Got your e-mail this morning and I'll send a reply later.

You know it's strange regarding the replies from my post. In actually, I was asking about a BRAKE SHOP, DETAILERS, TIRE SHOPS, OTHER PROFESSIONAL GROUPS, ETC. that could paint my brake calipers. But I get responses from you guys saying you're able to do it yourselves.

What a great group of people I am able to associate with. I am so proud to be part of a group of people that reaches out to help someone, that are eager to provide advice and direction, and people like Hal that makes me laugh my butt off.

Thanks for everything guys.

Doug:biggrin:

P.S. Hal, may the stinger be with you.

well crap that sucks, rear is what I really need lol. I was planning on buy another full set cause I can't sem to buy just the rears from anyone lol, the powdercoat the rears black and then swap em with my old ones then I could powder coat the full set black and rebuild em and sell em to a friend of mine to put on his del sol since that would be a massive upgrade for him. however if I can't get a rear rebuild I am not sure how I am gonna do this much less ever be able to when they finally do leak :(

I think the problem is where you live, Doug. You can always give your place up to me so you can have a garage  .

In all seriousness.. with how much you drive the car.. you don't need to have them powdercoated. Is it ideal? Yes. Will it least longer? Yes. Does it look cleaner? It's subjective--most people can't tell the different between a car that's had the calipers painter or pc'd. You can easily paint the calipers when them still o the car-- just use a lot of newspaper!!

I don't mind doing it for you-- you can come hang with me for a day. Or better yet, take out the s2000 and see how you like her compared to the NSX. There's great roads only about 20 mins from me (niles canyon to palomares, niles canyon to calavares, 880 to 9.. the list goes on).

Hay Ken and Aaron, I am going to PM you guys. I've had to look into rental cars from Half Moon Bay, etc. and Aaron if you could pick up the car. Aaron and his girlfriend like the view from my place overlooking San Francisco and the Bay.

I really, really appreciate your assistance.

So, now that we sort that out, is there anyone here on the Northern California site that would like to help me clean my place? Just kidding.

With all these offers of help Doug, you may have to send one caliper to each person and let us all do the work for you!

Can you believe how nice Ken is regarding helping out a fellow NSX'er?

Is there a "good guy" award?

doug,

(it's friday afternoon)
i just saw this post and frankly, i'd rather the stinger be with me than in me ;)

and i'm with you wrt the quality of prime members, doug. i've never really needed assistance with either of my cars, but i have needed guidance on other areas (animal health, etc) and the support has always been amazing.
