Hello all,

I am going to be replacing my outer tie rods this weekend and was wondering if I should find a ball joint separator like they list in the manual, or just use a fork-type splitter that I currently own? I know the type of separator in the manual does not damage the boot, but I am going to be replacing them and don't really care about the old ones. I don't want to damage the steering knuckle (is this possible?) by using a fork type splitter, and would be happy to just track down the other type of separator if this is the preferred tool.

Thanks in advance,
James

Just go to autozone type store and rent the tie-rod tools. You should be able to borrow a tie rod tool box which has collection of tools including the one shown in the manual.
