Which HID kit is better, HID 4 Less or Autolamps?

I know that both use the same Philips components and both offer the same 5 year warranty. But wouldn't HID4Less be easier for warranty being in the US? Also is there any differences between the two kits? I called HID 4 less and they stated that their NSX specific kit comes with a type 2 ballast. See link below

Are you guys familiar with this ballast or seen it used. He claims it is better than the Philips ballast.

Any suggestions????

Also how would I order the autolamps kit now that they don't have it listed on their website. I wonder if it is still available?

i purchased a 4100k kit from hid-online.com (formerly autolampsonline.com) a couple months ago.
i'm much happier with their kit than i was with the sos kit.
i have heard some things about the autolamps kit producing different color light from each bulb but i have not had any problems like that with my kit.
don't know about any of the other kits on the market.
if you look on the DIY section on this site they have an install using the autolamps kit.
feel free to PM me if you want more specific feedback.

Well I guess my opinion could be biased as the author of the Autolamps install kit. But I'd say the Autolamps/hid-online.com is by far superior. Here is a quick link to my DIY article, and always a big thanks to Lud for this awesome site:

Autolamps uses only genuine Philips parts in all of their applications, as the founder of the company has not only worked for Philips but helped develop HID technology for Auto applications. A lot of the other HID kits on the market use cheaper parts to maximize profits and unfortunally this affects dependability ect...

I am very pleased with my kit and never once had any color issues or any issues for that matter since installing it several years ago.

If you asked me I'd say go with WWW.HID-Online.Com ;)

Thanks guys,
I just received my 6000K kit from hid-online.com!!! The kit is awesome looking and I can't wait to install the kit. The kit is done right with relays, etc.

dochartung, do you have any additional tips for installing the kit? I am printing your instructions out now. Thanks for the great contribution!!!

Can you still buy HID kits?? Aren't they illegal to sell after Aug 15 or something??

I don't seem to have a problem getting a hold of them (even the more abstract sizes). Shhhhhhhh...just whisper.

Hey jsottile good for you in getting the Auto-lamps kit! It has been a while since I did my install. As far as additional tips... Lud, the owner of Autolamps and myself really took our time critiquing the article before posting the DIY. Right now I do not have any additional install tips but I will be here for you if you need me. Just post here or email me @ [email protected] and I will get right back to you!

Good Luck and take your time! :)

The only tip I have is for getting the high voltage wire through the rubber grommet. The wire is so flexible its hard to push through.

What I did was to get a 1 foot length of 14 guage solid copper uninsulated wire. (the ground wire from romex cable will work), push the wire through the grommet, solder the High Voltage wire to the solid wire, then pull the solid wire back through the grommet taking the HV wire with it, then unsolder the wires.

ps. I'm very happy with the autolamps kit. It works well for me.
