Hey guys, just needed to clarify which cool air intake you would recomened and why. BTW I had a great time at the Christmas party. Thanks again for the invite.
The most common intake "mod" for the NSX seems to be an air-intake scoop (maximizes "cold" air flow by minimizing turbulence from the driver's side vent) and the uni-filter foam element filter for the OEM air-filter box (optimal combination of increased flow & filtration). Apparently, this 'scoop + filter' combination is good for 5-6hp, as well as producing a nice intake growl sound when you blip the throttle!
All three of the 'scoop' offerings above are principally identical in terms of design and function; they only differ in the material used for construction (ie. FRP -> Dali & Downforce, Carbon-glass -> Dali, CF -> SOS/Cantrell). As the scoop isn't visible when installed, it's superficial appearance really isn't of high value (IMHO).
All of the other "intake" mods merely suck in the hot air circulating in the engine compartment.
Interesting how the same/similar parts cost so much different... What about the air box? CF or Aluminum? I understand that Aluminum is a conductor, but what kind of properties would a CF air box have?
